DACIANA'S POV

"Oh no…" I said out loud as soon as I spotted a few guards marching toward me. My mind was overcome with worry and immediately I dropped the basket in my hand.

I had gone to the Crescent Pack's plaza to get a few things for my children but then it seemed like I had made a huge mistake.

"Run!" This word resounded in my head, and immediately, and I took off, running out of the plaza.

"Catch her!" I heard one of the guards scream but then I did not dare to look back.

I continued to run knowing I was an illegal occupant in the Crescent Pack.

I have been in hiding for two years and I could be classified as a rogue. It was surprising how I was able to get into the pack, unnoticed.

However, no one knew I was the rejected mate of Alpha Ulfred of the Dark Wand Pack.

In the next second, I maneuvered my way out of the plaza and I was out in the streets.

After running a few miles, I dashed into a narrow corner and immediately I went into hiding.

I was way too tired to continue running due to the fact that I had starved for two days.

"My children…" I said, whimpering, as my butt hit the cold ground.

I hope they were safe. I decided to hide here because I did not want to lead the guards to my hiding place, where my children were kept.

However, in the next second, I heard loud thumpings and it was obvious that the guards were close to me.

"I can smell her!" I heard one of the guards say and I shut my eyes in distress.

I held my breath, knowing they would find me anytime soon.

"Protect my children." I said, clasping my hands together, praying to the Moon Goddess.

Immediately after I finished my prayer, the guards burst into the corner where I was.

I looked all around and I realized there was no way out of the corner.

"Shit! How did I get into this!" I said, in a low tone.

With a sigh through my lips, I saw my whole life flash before me knowing I would be labeled as a rogue now.

"Get her!" One of the guards ordered and I felt hands wrapped around me, keeping me in place.

"Let me go!" I screamed, kicking. Even though I knew I would be caught, I would not give in to their whims.

I would not act so weak!

In the next second, I kicked against one of the guards holding onto me.

My feet landed on his groin and he screamed in pain.

His hands left me and I was left with just one guard to deal with.

"Don't you dare!" The guard threatened, as soon as I turned to him.

"Watch me!" I said and immediately I gathered my strength and landed a punch on the guard's face.

I did not know where I got the strength from, I just found myself overpowering the guards.

Two guards were sprawled against the ground and then I looked up to see three more guards.

"You can't escape!" One of the guards who seemed like the head guard said, with a stick in hand.

He had a sinister smile on his face and for a moment, I thought I was done for.

"Catch me, if you can." I clapped back, with an equally sinister look on my face.

In the next second, I sprinted forward with a determined look on my face.

Even though I had prayed to the Moon Goddess to protect my children, I still could not bear to leave them alone.

Also, I could not fathom what the guards would do to me if they eventually got to me.

With my heightened senses, I could feel the guards on the floor stand up to their feet while I continued to sprint forward.

On the other hand, the head guard had raised his stick up, in order to hit me.

However, as I moved closer to him, he had a surprised look on her face.

"What! She is literally running to her death." One of the guards screamed.

"We were instructed to catch her alive!" Another said and immediately the head guard dropped the stick in his hand.

Without thinking twice, I ran past the guards and out of the corner.

I did not stop to think why they would want me alive.

I just wanted to get to my children, safely, while confusing the guards.

Looking around frantically, I realized I was almost at my hiding place. I could literally hear the cries of my children in my head but then it was just the connection I had with them.

However, in the next second, I stumbled and fell. My face fell flat into the dirt road and I groaned.

My eyes were dizzy and my stomach growled in protest.

I was drained and I looked around slowly.

I could not spot any of the guards anywhere and I knew I needed to get up.

Else, they would follow me to my hiding place.

"Hmmm…" I groaned, standing up on my shaky legs.

My head felt heavy and I felt like I was going to pass out anytime soon.

I started to take slow steps toward my destination.

However, in the next second, I heard gunshots in the air.

"Shit!" I cursed, and immediately as I stumbled.

"Moon Goddess." I uttered, wishing she would just descend and save me.

However, I knew she wasn't going to act like a knight in shining armor.

I would have to take matters into my own hands. The gunshots continued and it became rapid.

I could not stand because I knew I could get shot in the head by a stray bullet.

I started to crawl, knowing my hiding place was in sight.

It was no more a hiding place for me as I knew the guards would definitely get to me.

I just needed to get my children out of there.

Also, the streets were empty, enabling the guards to pursue me effortlessly.

However, even after crawling for minutes, I still did not make any progress.

Without thinking twice, I stood upright and started to sprint toward my destination.

But then a bullet shot through my left cheek suddenly and I felt a burst of pain.

My eyes widened in horror due to pain and surprise.

It was a silver bullet!

It was known throughout the packs that guards were not supposed to be in possession of silver bullets.

How the hell did these guards have them?

Holding onto my bloody cheek, I felt like passing out due to the burning sensation I felt.

Definitely, there was residue of the silver bullet in my skin and it was causing my whole head to ache and burn tremendously.

With blood dripping down my cheeks, continuously, I dashed toward the door to my hiding place.

It was a makeshift tent located in between abandoned buildings.

Opening the door, I expected to see my children laying on the floor or playing all around but then I could not spot them.

"My children!" I screamed, in horror.
