A night with Mr XANDER

Chapter one

OVER AT LUCY'S EATERY

Today was exceptionally a busy day as people stepped in and out of the restaurant.

More people meant more work for the staffs to carry out.

But behind the counter was a girl stressed out from all the work she had to go through today and only when she laid her head did she finally get a relief but it was short lived when a sudden yell of her name was heard.

"Evelyn!" 

A low shriek erupted up her throat startling her awake when she heard her name being called with such force as though whoever it was wanted to strangle her on the spot and turning her head to see who it was, she found that it was none other than the manager Jim calling.

The scowl spread across his face frightened her to her wits but none the less she put on a bold stance as she stood erect, her shoulders now straightened and the sleep vanishing completely keeping her wide awake.

"Manager Jim you are here? What can I do for you?" 

Her words were asked politely but even with that, it didn't dispell the furious look up his face and instead, his face turned extremely ugly at her words.

"What did I tell you about sleeping on the job?" He questioned stepping closer to her and seeing this she couldn't help but take a step back, her gaze not leaving his.

"I wasn't sleeping on the job this time around" she explained looking at her wrist watch which displayed the time.

"It's closing hours already" she stated but his advance towards her continued. Having no where else to go, she stood there looking him straight in the eye.

She was fond of his approach but lately it got even weird when he tried to get physical with her giving her hints on how he wanted to be with her, to make her his but instead of complying she kept playing the confused card, pretending to not understand a word he said.

That has been her excuse all along and fortunately, their conversation wouldn't last for long as it ended up being interrupted by one thing or the other.

This only angered him but today, he seemed to go beyond his boundary as he caged her between his arms placing both hands to her side, a smug curling up his face showing hints of his intentions.

An intention Evelyn knew all too well.

"Do you prefer living such life? With me Evelyn, you can have it all. I have told you this times without number. So what do you say hmm?"

"And my decision still remains the same sir" 

She could clearly see he wasn't taking a liking to her words.

The formal address sir she had used made it all clear to him, she wanted nothing from him.

"Evelyn yo..." Just when he attempted to speak Unfortunatelyfor him, the loud sound of glasses breaking from behind him disrupted his actions resulting for him to turn only to see Olivia bending down to pick up the broken pieces.

Her head held low as she bent to pick the broken shads of glass.

A scowl formed up his forehead with great lines between his brows.

"What do you think you are doing?" He rudely snapped at her for her to give off the pitiful look, her hands working as fast as it could to gather the broken pieces together.

"I'm really sorry sir it was an accident" she replied not daring to look up at him.

"That is coming out of your paycheck!" 

With Olivia's sudden intrusion, he knew he couldn't keep up with the topic he had in mind so he simply yelled at her leaving both ladies alone.

Olivia seeing his exiting back hurried to Evelyn's side carefully noting her expression, a look of surprise made its way up her face as not a single hint of fear displayed on Evelyn's face.

It was like she was unaffected by Mr Jim's advances.

"Thank you" Evelyn simply said regarding the actions done by Olivia as a favor for it happened to stop manager Jim's advances towards her.

"Don't mention it. Aren't you scared of him? I mean, From the look of it you seem fine with his actions" said Olivia but Evelyn simply shrugged.

She was never one to show her emotions so openly.

She only considered such display as being weak and even if she didn't look it, Olivia could sense she was scared on the inside.

Sometimes her lack of emotions towards things made Olivia think that Evelyn had some type of disorder. 

"There's no use for such. It's not like it would stop him so it's way better to show him that you aren't scared of him" she said going to pick up her bag and since it was closing hours, Olivia requested her to wait a little before getting her things and leaving the place together heading towards a cake shop where she bought a vanilla flavored cake.

Today was her fiance's birthday and even when they were going to throw a party, Evelyn still thought of buying his favorite cake.

She had personally applied for a job at the restaurant and it took her months to save up so much so that she can be able to purchase the latest vintage watch for him.

This was her birthday gift to him and just thinking of how his reaction would he when he lays his eyes on it made a subtle smile creep up her delicate lips.

On her arrival, the place was already bustling with noise and music feeling the air with people making themselves comfortable with food and drinks being offered to them.

"Evelyn you are here. It's nice to see you" her cousin Aurora said dragging her to a seat.

There, they sat down.

Evelyn was orphaned at a very young age so she stayed with Aurora's parents who treated her like she was part of the family.

"The place is beautiful" she complemented, her eyes glancing through the place to see the beautiful decorations done and at the same time looking for Josh.

"I know right. They really did a good job here. Oh and I know you must be looking for Josh, he went to the restroom a while ago but he will be back soon"

she nudged at her for Emily to let a smile.

"Hey, I'm glad you made it. How did you see the place huh?" Jacob said coming to stand beside Aurora who just let out a scoff on seeing him.

"The place is really nice. I applaud the designers they really did a good job" Evelyn said making Jacob smile.

"I told you it was nice. With me in charge, everything will go as planned" Jacob said winking at Aurora who simply rolled her eyes.

Her actions displayed was caught by Evelyn making her shake her head with a smile, knowing Aurora, she liked to play hard to get most of the times.

And Jacob was one of those guys she displayed her tricks on, Evelyn could clearly tell Aurora has some sort of crush towards Jacob even if she doesn't act like it.

"Whatever" muttered Aurora paying no heed to Jacob's words.

The party went on but still Evelyn couldn't see any sign of him and she was beginning to get worried.

She had tried to call him but it seems his phone was switched off, each time there was no answer, her brows always furrowed together so making the decision to go look for him and passing by the men's restroom, she stopped when she heard series of moans coming from there.

She intended to continue moving since she wasn't one to meddle in people's business but then again, she was sure she heard Josh's voice coming from the restroom.

His groans were loud enough for anyone who passed by to hear and pushing the door open, she was shocked to find Josh banging on a woman.

Her hair was spurred over her face making it impossible for her to see who it was but immediately she lifted her head, her eyes widened to see that the woman was none other than her best friend Amelia.

"Josh!" She yelled startling them both halting their actions, both heads turned to the door where she stood.

And as for Evelyn who stood there, although she caught them in the act, she couldn't bring Herself to believe it. Right in that moment she had mixed emotions all wanting to explode at a time causing pain to her heart.

"Evelyn, yo... What are you doing here?!" He asked slightly taken aback by her appearance but Amelia on the other hand still held on to josh wrapping her arms around him completely ignoring the presence of Evelyn as her eyes focused on Josh.

Sweat trickled down her face from the proactive deed she happened to see them in, her breathing coming out in large pant of air and her chest heaved.

"I guess the cat is out of the bag. Welcome Evelyn" 

Her smile and her words only caused more pain in her heart.

"Evelyn it isn't what it looks like" said Josh trying to justify himself.

But what was there to justify when he's already caught in it?

"How long has this been going on?" 

"I... Eve..."

Josh who attempted to speak was interrupted by Amelia's words.

"Three good years!" Amelia said not feeling remorseful.

So many emotions spiralled in Evelyn's head and not able to contain her tears, she ran out of the apartment but when Josh tried to run after her, he was held back by Amelia.

"What's your problem?" He yelled for her to release him, a sneer leaving her lips.

"Nothing, are you just going to run after her without dressing properly first?"

She asked pointing to his zipper, his hands reached for his trousers where he dressed them properly heading out to get hold of Evelyn but when he left he couldn't see her figure anymore.

His eyes roamed round the place but yet no sign of her, this made him grit his teeth in anger.

Evelyn who ran of the party couldn't help her tears and even though she willed herself to stop crying, it only resulted in more tears flowing down her cheek.

For long moments she walked not knowing where she was heading to.

Her eyes were on the road but her brain was unfocused to the extent she wasn't able to notice the incoming car headed her way it was by a small inch the car happened to miss her, leaving the driver to throw curses and balling his fists at her as he rode on. 

Aurora who left the party in search of Evelyn couldn't help but feel something really bad happened because the way Evelyn ran out of the party said so.

She decided to track her using her phone and for hours she walked till her feet stopped at a bar.

What was she doing at a bar?

She questioned herself before going in to see Evelyn gulping down a glass of alcohol, her eyes were all Droopy showing that she was clearly drunk.

"Evelyn you are drinking?" She said not hiding the shock in her voice for she has never seen her in such state as this most of all, she had never seen Evelyn drink. 

The tears that prickled down her eyes didn't go unnoticed by Aurora who remained routed simply glancing at her.

"What's wrong?" She asked but still no words came out of Evelyn's mouth.

Distressed about this, she reached out for her phone.

"I'm calling Josh" she said and in a haste to dial his number, her phone was forcefully grabbed from her hand and smashed to the ground with such force it startled Aurora making a loud gasp leave her lips.

The phone was just a month old and in such period of time, it received such fate where cracked lines were seen on the phone.

"Don't you dare call him. His a scum. A big one" 

Tonight Aurora couldn't help but open her mouth and her eyes going even wider at the attitude Evelyn displayed.

For starters never for once has she gotten herself drunk in her life and secondly, she heard her curse not just anyone but Josh.

She knew how much she loved Josh so this was a surprise to her.

Evelyn wasn't one to show her emotions and now that she did it could only be that something really awful happened to keep her in this state.

"Okay I won't call him besides you destroyed my phone so it's impossible to do so but what happened. Don't just block me out, Evelyn you know you can talk to me" she coaxed like she was talking to a child and when Evelyn's hands reached for the bottle, it was quickly pulled out of her reach by Aurora but still she didn't speak, her throat hurts, her heart hurts even more.

Hot shimmering tears continuously spilled down her eyes staining her cheeks.

"If you don't speak I'll tell Mom and Dad" threatened Aurora for more tears to stream down her cheek and at first when she opened her lips, no words came out.

It felt like a fish bone was stuck to her throat until she forced Herself to speak narrating everything that happened at the bar.

How Josh had cheated on her with Amelia, a person she called her nest friend.

"What?! How could he?" Aurora was extremely pissed by what she heard and when she wanted to speak even further, a loud shout from behind interrupted her.

"Evelyn!" Almost everyone turned their attention to the source only to find Josh coming in their direction and behind him was Amelia who cat walked with her heels making her way to where they were.

Aurora cursed for she had called Amelia to tell her about Evelyn's situation at the bar and in the process giving her the address.

She had no idea she was the one who hurt her cousin.

She was a sn@ke!

A wolf in sheep's clothing!

"What are you doing here?" Evelyn asked turning to Aurora sending her a glare.

"I promise I didn't call him. I only called Amelia but that was before you told me what happened I promise" she said trying to ease the glare Evelyn sent her way.

Standing up from her seat, she attempted to leave but found it impossible to do so when she was blocked by Josh.

The smell of alcohol penetrated Josh's nose making him scrunch his nose.

"Where do you think you are going to huh?" He questioned, his hold on her so tight that she felt a little more pressure on her wrist could break her bones.

"Let go of me you cheat?!" She yelled but when he wouldn't heed her words, her hands met his face resulting to her palms to hurt but the pain wasn't enough to cover the pain in her heart.

"I'll let everyone know what sort of a scum you are" she yelled struggling to get off his grip.

"Let her go!" Yelled Aurora but when Josh threw her a glance, she felt a little intimidated and decided to keep shut.

"If you know what's best for you stay out of this" he warned with a menacing tone before returning his gaze to Evelyn who struggled helplessly in vain.

"Think whatever you want to think but you do as I say, you hear me!"

His domineering tone irritated Evelyn making her want to vomit all over him.

"Or else what?! Huh?" Retorted Evelyn turning her gaze to Amelia who only sneered on seeing her.

She couldn't imagine Amelia could hurt her this much.

Amelia was more than just a friend to her.

She was her friend, her sister and her part of the people she considered her family.

They have been through thick and thin together with lots of things in common.

For starters they were both orphaned at a very young age.

But here she was openly betraying her, stabbing her behind her back.

Never did she imagine Amelia or Josh to hurt her this much.

"How could you do this to me?" She cried out, her pain could evidently be seen.

"How could I not? I saw a good opportunity and I took it. You better be a good girl and listen" said Amelia with an eye roll.

"Both of you shut up and you are coming with me" said Josh dragging her along with him.

Seeing this, Evelyn used the last of her strength to jerk her hands away from his.

The pain from her actions lingering there for moments but wasn't as intense as the pain she felt in her heart.

"You are no one to me"

"I am your soon to be husband. Who do you think you are? You can't live without me. I am the air that you breath.

Without me you are nothing!" His words belittled her making her feel like nothing.

"That's not true" she said loosing her voice to speak, her words turning to a whisper.

Her entire world and everything she believed in seemed to crumble down.

"Do you doubt me?"

"That's not true. I can live without you. It's you who can't live without me"

Even though her words sounded absurd, she decided to go with it.

While she was still trying to put on a confident look going against Josh's words, that's when she heard it.

That's when she heard Amelia speak.

"Prove it.

There are so many men here, I dare you Evelyn to kiss any one of them"

She stated, her words leaving everyone shocked. 

"Both of you shut up and you are coming with me" said Josh dragging her along with him.

Seeing this, Evelyn used the last of her strength to jerk her hands away from his.

"You are no one to me"

"I am your soon to be husband. Who do you think you are? You can't live without me. I am the air that you breath.

Without me you are nothing!" His words belittled her making her feel like nothing.

" That's not true" she said loosing her voice to speak, her words turning to a whisper.

Her entire world and everything she believed in seemed to crumble down.

"Prove it. Prove it isn't true, go on Emily I dare you. 

There are so many men here, kiss anyone of them" said Amelia with a smirk on her lips.

Josh hearing this glared at Amelia but his gaze didn't scare her.

"Relax Josh baby. She can't do it because she is nothing without you. Can't you see it" hearing the words of Amelia Josh lips pulled up into a smile.

Knowing Evelyn as a respectable girl, he knew she couldn't do such a thing.

Aurora who stood by the side could only feel pity for her cousin, a frown arched up her face.

"Can you guys just stop already?" Butted Aurora feeling an irritable Expression rise up her chest on merely looking at the people in front of her.

"Stay out of this" 

A warning was thrown to her when Josh have a quick glance at her before redirecting his gaze at Evelyn who for a moment, seemed loss for words.

" Go on Evelyn, do it" he urged on seeing her shoulders tremble, her steps staggering back as she seemed to be thinking of something.

Her hesitation made Josh smirk and it grew even wider on the thought his words were true.

MEANWHILE

While they were having a heated argument amongst themselves, a man was busy running up and down.

He was the manager of the bar and along with the employees of the bar, they were all trying to make everything in order for the arrival of the famous Mr XANDER.

It's been years he was payed a visit from XANDER and now he was finally going to do so, if words get out that he was here, he was sure to hope on more wealthy customers just like him.

More customers of his kind, equals more money and so he made everything in order.

Unfortunately he was only just informed about his incoming visit and also wasn't informed on his time of arrival, that's the reason for his panicked state so when a guard stepped in announcing Xander's arrival, he panicked even more.

"Mr XANDER'S car has reached here" he informed.

At this everyone tensed up and became alert.

The manager to turned to the staffs.

"He's here so Please make sure everything is in order"

Everyone nodded at his words.

But just as he was about to give more instructions, the door flew open, his eyes widened to find XANDER stepping in with three bodied able men in Black on either side of him.

His dressing exuded an impeccable aura that demanded respect.

His stare which was as cold as ice was enough to make anyone who came close cower in fear and when he stepped in, the manger was first to meet him.

"Mr XANDER, right this way please" he said leading the way heading to the VIP section.

Due to his presence the bar went silent for a while before the bustling noises continued.

But at a corner stood Evelyn whose heart kept aching my the words and presence of the none guilty people in front of her.

Instead of an apology, they came to mock her.

This made her wonder if she was so foolish to the extent she wasn't able to notice what was happening right under her nose or where they so good in hiding.

Or did she see the signs but decided to ignore it.

All of which made her feel downgraded.

But no more would they trample on her.

"That's not true. I can prove it!" 

Words erupted up her throat, fragile weak hands went forward to clean off her the tears that lingered on her face.

Josh couldn't help but laugh at her outburst.

She was like a stubborn child intent on getting something she couldn't have.

When her words penetrated Amelia's ears, she too couldn't help but burst out into fits of laughter.

"Are you for real?" Asked Amelia with a sneer, her laughter slowly dying away leaving only smiles up her face.

"I said, I'LL DO IT"

Bold and determined were her words as she glared up at him.

On hearing the determination in her voice, an unnoticeable scowl formed up his face.

"Is that so? Well then if you do what I say, I promise you that we will leave you. But first, I dare you to kiss..." Amelia looked round when her gaze came across a stunning high outstanding man who was making his way towards the VIP section.

At first glance she recognized him to be XANDER.

A cunning, daunting smile crept up her lips when her hands pointed in his direction.

"Him" she pointed.

Evelyn who looked in the direction she pointed, found a group of men walking in and in front of them was a man who seemed like their boss.

At first she wanted to decline but hearing Josh's remark changed her mind.

"Evelyn you don't have to listen to them let's just go" Aurora said trying to reason with her.

"Yes Evelyn let's just go. You belong to me and if I sleep with a hundred and one women, nothing can change that.

You are nothing just my toy" he said causing more pain to her already broken heart.

His toy!

She'll show him.

Her anger was fueled by his word and with this anger, she gathered the courage heading forward towards the stranger.

At the movement of her figure, They watched her leave their sight going to the man Amelia had pointed out and to their surprise, she stopped right in front of him, the hilt of her legs raised as she stood on her toes bringing her lips to kiss the stranger.

A gasp left their lips and the lips of the manger on seeing this.

Evelyn who finally got the courage marched forward landing a kiss on the lips of the stranger.

And in an instant, the gaze of the man before her turned deadly as he stared at her.

Evelyn couldn't help but swallow and when she heard him speak, she couldn't help but want to pee on herself.

"How dare you kiss me?!" He yelled in apparent anger sending shivers down her spine.
