Chapter Six

HELENA’S POV

I was already exhausted by the time the reception was over. The wedding was an elaborate one panned by the queen herself. I had to pretend all was fine so the guests don’t suspect anything. During the couples’ dance I was nervous and lost in my thoughts. Alexander had quickly sprang up to his feet when they announced that it was time for the couple to dance. I was shy and nervous. I searched my father’s face from my sitting position. He gave me a nod and signaled me to smile, I smiled as he had instructed. I didn’t want to spoil things for my father as well for the Stones because it would rain fire and brimstone on my family.

When we finished Mrs. Stone asked the driver to take me back to Alexander’s mansion. That was when the reality of not being with father and my friend Gabriel dawned on me. I had no other person to talk to asides these two. I examined the mansion the moment the car pulled over at the garage.
