Chapter Four

Jasmine's POV

Its been two weeks since I left and, all I had done was play an amusing the game of hide and seek with Alpha Tyler's guards.

Funny how insecure the borders of the pack were on the night I had fled and a few days later, I was being hunted as though I left with something important.

The willpower they were using to track me down was surprising and frustrating. It made my simple plan of running and settling in any pack I was accepted hard because I had to keep changing location constantly.

To make things worse for me, I felt my body system change drastically, almost as though I had caught a fever alongside the way, but my determination not to return kept me going.

A few times my curiosity got the most of me and I lingered around trying to get any information that would make me understand why he was after me.

There was no way he was in regret, rather I was sure he wanted me back so he could punish me for taking a leap of faith.

As the days passed, whatever illness I was down with made it difficult to be miles ahead of them, hereby putting me in danger a few times.

My wolf wanted him though, so many times she had tried so eagerly to make see reasons why he would want me back, but I am as certain I knew him enough, and I'll be damned to dare go back to his gilded cage.

I had come so far to go back. Although living as a rogue was tougher than I expected, it was nothing compared to my routine life at Tyler's pack.

There were so many times, death had yelled my name, and I was so tempted to answer, but something desperately tugged me back.

“Her scent lingers around this environment” I heard one of them say, causing me to hold my breath.

So, fast? I was certain that I was safe hiding out here, and I had let my guard down. Their desperation made me more scared and eager to get far away from them.

“Let's camp at the other side of the river, she can't outrun us, and we'd be damned to return home without her” I heard the other guard say so confidently.

“What’s more funny is how she thought she could outrun us, Did she really think Alpha Tyler let go of his properties easily?”

I gritted my teeth as I was being referred to as his property, that was how they saw me all these while?

I was a fool to even refer myself as his wife and Luna. To everyone, I was just his trophy, I scoffed at how stupid I must have looked then.

My hands subtly located the masking oil I had carried along and as quietly as I could, I put it on.

I needed to freshen up and rest because the masking oil wasn’t doing a good job in hiding my scent anymore, I’d be up before they were done resting, so I’d have enough time to be ahead.

It's almost like my scent was way stronger than it ought to be. I stayed still until I was sure that the coast was clear before making a run for it.

They were already asleep, and although I didn't need to run, I couldn't take chances with my life anymore, I ran as though my heels were on fire.

The urge to vomit came once more as I settled in an open cave while trying to calm my ragged breath.

My eyes shone as I stared at the nightlife. As tired as I was, I earned to be sure that I was not followed before letting my guard down.

Fatigue soon weighed me down, and I let down a yawn, the guards have been on my trial for three days straight, giving me no room for rest.

I adjusted into a manageable position for rest, as there was nothing comfortable about laying in this rocky cave before shutting my eyes.

If I wanted to be ahead of them, I needed rest, my tummy grumbled…. I required rest and food.

Sleep came to me almost immediately, but not for long as a mild commotion woke me up.

Immediately, my eyes widened to see that my hiding place had been discovered by his guards.

Without thinking, my legs worked faster than my brain that was still in shock and fear.

“Don’t let that bitch out of your sight!” I heard them yell angrily, as though they hadn’t seen me race past them.

If I made it away from them, then I would be certain the goddess protection is upon me.

The fear of what I was going to face back home made me feel so pumped up, but I knew deep down that I was weak.

A girl could only dream of outrunning two angry and determined men.

“Why are you making this harder for yourself?” One of them taunted, sounding so close that my thumping heart leaped out in fear.

Harder for myself!

I wanted to scoff, but breathing was becoming difficult, and I could hear the sound of their heavy thudding boots behind me.

Fearfully, it turned to check how far away they were but their proximity made me lose my footing.

“Caught you!”

“No! No! No!” I cried out, struggling against their hold.

“Shut that bitch up!” I heard his partner whisper and I felt something pierce my neck, causing me to go limp.

Wolfsbane!

“Tie her up gently” I heard a man whisper a little too loudly for comfort, causing me to wince.

“Alpha Tyler would be pleased to have his doll returned broken” the other mocked, and they burst into laughter.

“Hello ma’am, we found her” I heard someone say on the phone, but the reply of the supposed woman was muffled.

“But Alpha Tyler…”, I heard the woman shout and the man on the line muttered his reply too.

“She wants the Luna dead,” I heard the man who was just on call said before roughly grabbing me.

“What about Alpha Tyler? He said we should….”

“She’d handle him, there is a cliff not too far away, let’s get this over with before the others wake up” I was roughly pulled to my feet.

I felt the cold feel of ropes dancing on my wrist, but no matter how I fought against their hold, it almost seemed as though it could never be enough.

The fear of being bound hit me and flashbacks of that night with Tyler filled my head, causing tears of frustration to fill me up.

I’d never be strong enough to fight. If I had known I would have let them catch up with me earlier on, if it wasn’t because of the kind of Alpha Tyler was I would have probably surrendered.

The times when his guards were starting to get closer to where I was hiding and I had cunningly escaped filled my mind, it was far much better than death.

Or was it?

I wondered what he would have done if he had laid his eyes on me.

“Please” I tried screaming out, but they laughed harder at my plight. I wondered what she had offered them for them to act so wickedly.

I was roughly dragged towards the cliff, admits their laughter and playful bickering.

“Any last prayer?”

The scent of sandalwood filled my nostrils, causing me to shiver in delight, “Mate!”

“Mate?” They asked before bursting into laughter.

"You must be delusional to think Alpha Tyler would come down himself in search for you" one of them mocked but I was certain this wasn't Tyler, this scent was different and more alluring.

“Goodbye Luna Jasmine” he mocked, and I shut my eyes in surrender and waited for death to take me.
