Chapter 2

Frank watched with a satisfactory smirk as Kelly tossed Cassandra around. That was his wife but nothing she said nor her tears moved him, rather it made him angry. He wasn't glad, it was hard to die. It was taking too much time already and pissing him off.

“What did I ever do wrong? I was there when your parents left you, it was I who helped you all along the way……. Frank, this is our baby, you're watching her punch ” Cassandra sobs.

Her hair hurts so much, she's been pulled too many times over the floor that she couldn't count. While she slipped in and out of consciousness, Frank and Kelly had prepared for her death.

A suicide note laid carelessly on the table. Her bank card last will and last testament were well drafted and written out by Kelly. She had typed the whole thing so as not to raise suspicion. Since she wasn't willing to hand over the code they might as well get it the other way.

“ Have you gotten everything?” Kelly turned to Frank who Was busy setting up the perfect suicide scene.

“Ohh not to worry babe. I have got everything. Now to make her drink it. I won't have her carry my child even in death.”

“ His child,” Cassandra scoffs. The word child rolled out of his mouth so effortlessly, how could any not fall for it, he was erasing evidence and planting new ones of his own. Even if she didn't survive, she could see just how her husband and his mistress would effortlessly walk away.

No one will suspect a mourning best friend who had been there for her. How was the police to suspect a man who is crazed from losing his unborn child and wife? every plan they made before her was perfect,

“How long have you been cheating on me with her?” Cassandra suddenly asked. She wanted to know just how long she'd been a fool, a fool for love. They might as well tell her why she deserves such a fate.

She loved all of them without holding back for 6 long years. Has it all been a dream, or did they fall out of love for her after some years?

“It won't hurt telling you everything now….. dead people don't talk”, Kelly laughed. She was nothing like the friend she had known all these years. The love and shine in her eyes seems to have gone so far away……….very hard to reach.

“Casse……you have got it all. From the perfect home to love, money, and cars. You name it I have been your shadow ever since you came into my life 6 years ago.. At first, I couldn't care less you were willing and ready to pamper me around with cash, you helped my mother start a business and paid my way all through the university. Thanks to your contacts, I secured a good-paying job and now have a better chance at life.

But how could I forget, it was all compensation for taking the most important thing in my life. Frank has always loved just one woman. He gave it all just to seek a better future. He could do anything just for her sake, that's just how much he loves her. Can you guess who she is?” Kelly's words were taunting.

A day ago she would have vowed that the woman before her wasn't capable of such. All Cassandra could think of was how far she had fallen if only time could wait. If only she would be given another chance at it, then she would make them pay for every pain, every drop of tears would be accounted for. She would make them pay for hurting her so much.

“ You can't guess? It has been me from the very start. Cassandra, you are your father's daughter but stupid when it comes to love. you would have listened and called off the wedding, you weren't seeing things back then. your dead father had indeed left a confession but you were too naive to know”.

Cassandra could taste her blood. Yeah, she remembers her wedding like it happened yesterday, the letter warning her to be wary of Kelly and Frank, it had said to be from her father but sadly she lost him on the same day.

The wedding went ahead and the letter was thrown away. Everyone had convinced her that it was a kind of sabotage and distraction by the real murderer to hinder the police from investigating in the right direction.

Indeed everything had been done by Kelly and Frank. Oh, she felt so stupid to have trusted them. Everything was gone. They took everything of importance from her and her baby.

” Do you feel bad? you shouldn't. I nor Frank wouldn't have known of the letter if you had not brought it to us. You killed your father. You weren't remorseful as you married his murderer under the pretense of getting stature to investigate his murder even further.

Cassandra……. You have been a fool…… a fool for love” every word of Kelly stabbed right through her heart. All she felt at this moment was anger toward loving the wrong man.

Anger for allowing herself to fall so deep. She sought out love and vowed to protect those she loved…… seeing them right before her now, she should have protected herself against them.

“Make sure she drinks it before throwing her off the balcony. We do not want any chance of that thing she is carrying to survive” the words of Frank tore through her bones. The thing he was referring to nonchalantly was his blood.

That thing is his very own baby, that thing is part of him. Cassandra watched dreadfully as Kelly went to the kitchen Frantically searching for a knife.

It was now or never, she would not give them the Honor. She loved them but they loved what she came with. The house, the cars, the money would be theirs but not the pleasure of them taking credit for her death.

Cassandra dragged her limp body tiredly to the balcony railing. From there she could see the city's beauty emanating from below. The world indeed looked like its best at night-time.

“I should have known adopting a dog would be better than helping you two. Frank, all I ever thought was to love you. That was my mistake, my biggest mistake” Cassandra stepped back making Frank and Kelly halt in their attempts to get to her.

“Kelly ... .a sister I never had but now an enemy I could have avoided. Frank, You had promised me a life of love and a home to call my own, in this lifetime …now…I …. Realize you lied about everything Frank…. You lied

I will go ahead with my child now. Let it be our final farewell. Enjoy your peace while it lasts. I will be back even if I have to give my soul to Lucifer in exchange for it.. trust me I would”.

Cassandra left her limping fall breaking the glass barrier. From a view of a thousand pieces of glass falling alongside her body, she held onto her stomach, she could not promise her baby anything for she had nothing. Her swollen eyes suddenly caught a glimpse of hope, the right eyes and the right hands reaching out to her.

A silly smile played on her lips. His longing hands reached out to help, his eyes held desperation, love, and pain, yes she hurt him unknowingly.

He was watching from the 9th floor as he felt unable to help her. She knew that face. Carlson Cole. The rich single billionaire of the country and her father's most trusted ally.

She could still visualize their first meeting with a man of great affluence and charm. His charisma was enough to make any woman want him. Too bad she had been too deeply pulled into the wings of Frank, no one knows the love he held for her behind those cold eyes.

“A chance. To love what is worth and those deserving”  is all she pleaded for desperately as darkness overwhelmed her broken body.
