Chapter Seventeen

Alice smiled back at him, looking deeply into his eyes. In the moment, she felt as though it was just the two of them in the room, with their long pause of silence.

“Ahem.” Blake coughed, calling them back to reality.

“Oh, pardon me, Miss Pearson, this is my good friend, Blake.” Michael said, gesturing both his arms towards Blake.

Blake raised his right hand, waving politely and smiling softly. “Hi!”

“And Blake, this is my Boss, Miss Pearson.” Michael continued, now directing his hands to Jane.

“Please, call me Jane.” Jane said, returning Blakes wave.

“Okay, Jane.” Blake replied.

Jane smiled at him. “I would also prefer it if you called me by my name too.” She said, facing Michael.

“I don’t think that’s right.” Michael said.

“What?” Jane asked.

“Calling you by your name like that.” He responded.

“And why’s that?” Jane asked again, slightly annoyed.

“Because you’re my Boss.” He said firmly.
