My chest began to tighten almost instantly out of worry and excitement, and my hands began to shake. I couldn’t understand what I felt, as if all my body went numb as we got closer to my son.

What if Jayce refused to acknowledge me as his father?

What if he wouldn't like living in Canberra and instead opted for the tranquility of life here in California?

Oh, God! I was glad Kelly was here holding my hand. It helped a lot that she was here comforting me.

‘‘Baby!’’ Kelly called out and released my hand as she ran towards Jayce and left me alone.

‘‘Mommy!’’ Jayce's eyes brightened in delight as he wiggled out of Billy's hold and sprinted towards Kelly, whose arms were held out wide as she embraced Jayce. ‘‘Mommy, you're here!’’

‘‘Yes, baby...’’ Kelly gave him a kiss that covered his entire face, which caused him to giggle out loud. ‘‘Just like I promised you…’’

‘‘You promised to bring daddy with you when you come back here…’’ he pouted. ‘‘Where is he, Mommy?’’
