Forty: I Promise

I sipped from the hot tea Karen had served me, sitting on the bed like a pitiful animal. I still felt so weak and sad. To worsen it all, Roy hadn't come home yet. Fine, I understood he was probably busy, but what was stopping him from giving me just one phone call?

I rubbed my knuckles against my eyes, sniffed. I would admit, I was completely dreaded. I really didn't know how to get rid of Scott. It seemed like he was forever going to haunt me. 

"Can I come in?" Karen peeped through the door, gave me a smile. 

Yes, I was still so puzzled that she was being this nice. When she had given me this tea, I had thought she must have poisoned it, but well, I was only being negative and weird. The tea was completely fine. 

I gave her a curt nod, dropped the tea on the bedside table, and leaned my back against the headboard of the bed.
