Chapter Three

Chapter Three

Gwyneth looked at him still wearing her loose dress, the dress she wore had to reach her ankles but he only wore it to his knees. On top of that, the top part of the dress was about to tear because of his chest. She avoided looking at him because if she did, she wouldn't be able to suppress her urge to burst into laughter. However, Gwyneth didn't forget the main topic. She asked seriously, "If you feel you can't go to the hospital alone, let me take you-"

Gwyneth wanted to say more, but she heard him say, "I can't go to the hospital, or more precisely, I can't go out. Last night, you also saw the wounds on my body, right? I was pursued by a secret organization. They want to chase and kill me, so if they find me, I'll surely die."

As soon as he finished speaking, the atmosphere became unusually quiet and tense. Gwyneth shuddered slightly as she tried to remain calm and skeptical of his words, then she asked, "So... why do they want to kill you?"

"I know the secrets of that organization. To silence me, they have to kill me. Luckily, I found out, so I could escape. Although I managed to flee from them, without your help, I would have died in that alley." He finished, his cold gaze staring straight at Gwyneth, making her shiver.

She felt that he was deliberately trying to say that if she didn't keep her mouth shut, he would kill her to silence her like the way that secret organization was hunting him down.

"Why don't you report it to the police?" Gwyneth asked, knowing that the police might not be able to capture the secret organization, but at least they could ensure his safety.

But as soon as he heard her mention the police, he burst into laughter as if hearing a funny story. "The police? Are you kidding me? What can they do? Help me catch those who are hunting me or protect me? By the time they could do anything, I would already be dead."

Nine out of ten of his words were about killing, which made Gwyneth shudder. If she hadn't treated those wounds to help him, she might have thought he was delusional.

"So..." Before Gwyneth could speak, he interrupted, "So from now on, I'll stay here with you. I won't do anything to harm you, just-"

"No! Absolutely not! Listen, I sympathize with your situation, but I cannot allow you to stay here. I'm telling you straight, I don't want to get involved. I already saved you and I don't owe you anything. You need to leave my house quickly." After hearing his words, Gwyneth stood up and said, her kindness is more than enough, he is being hunted by such a dangerous organization, so it is difficult for her to avoid being implicated.

The atmosphere fell silent again, the man looked at Gwyneth with a cold gaze, but she wasn't afraid. She only had one life, so she couldn't take risks. This man was like a ticking bomb in her house. She had to get him out of there before things got worse.

Facing Gwyneth's firm attitude, he bowed his head without saying anything, looking very pitiful, but she didn't feel sorry for him. However, the next moment, Gwyneth was horrified by the man's actions in front of her, her face immediately turning pale.

"What are you doing? Are you crazy? Don't do something foolish, everything can be resolved slowly." Gwyneth shouted in horror as she saw the man put a knife to his throat, the sharp blade piercing slightly, causing blood to flow.

The man didn't stop but stared at Gwyneth intensely. "If that's the case, then I might as well die here. Whether I die here or elsewhere, it's better to choose a good place like this to die rather than some cold place outside, don't you think?"

This man brought Gwyneth from one horror to another, using the same sharp knife he just placed on her neck to prepare for suicide. At this point, Gwyneth couldn't think much more; she shouted, "I allow you to stay here, stop it!"

As soon as she finished speaking, he lowered the sharp knife, smiling happily and said, "Thank you! I'm very grateful to you."

Gwyneth felt drained of energy and collapsed onto the sofa, trembling slightly, her face pale, and her breathing difficult. These events were even more terrifying when she had to face them as an intern at the morgue.

“We'll live together later, just call me Rad. I'll have to ask you for a lot of help later, Gwyneth.” Rad smiled and extended his hand to shake hands, but Gwyneth only coldly snorted.

"How did you know my name?" Gwyneth furrowed her brow slightly. She had never mentioned her name to him, not because she forgot, but because she thought he would leave right after, thus no introduction was necessary.

Rad's hand still lingered mid-air. Gwyneth had no intention of shaking hands with him, but instead of withdrawing awkwardly, Rad reached out and grabbed her hand, forcing her into the handshake.

Rad tightened his grip, smiling brightly as he replied, "I saw your nameplate in the bedroom."

When Rad let go of her hand, it was slightly flushed. Gwyneth didn't want to continue speaking to him. She stood up, intending to cook dinner, but as she stepped into the kitchen, she found a table of food already prepared.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you that I've already cooked dinner. There isn't much left in the fridge, so I could only prepare this much. If you hadn't agreed to let me stay here, you'd probably be having this dinner alone," Rad said casually and cheerfully, sitting down at the table before her.

Gwyneth heard him speak, remembering the image of him preparing to commit suicide that sent chills down her spine. She sighed deeply and sat down opposite him. Since becoming a doctor, she has not seen a full dining table like this for a long time. She often eats ready-made food because she's a bad cook. If she eats her own cooking, she'll soon be hospitalized for food poisoning.

Seeing Rad enjoying his meal, Gwyneth began to eat, covertly observing him with a sense of unease, afraid that this man might be a criminal or some other dangerous individual. She didn't know if his words were true, but they were too terrifying and beyond her comprehension.

While she was focused on observing Rad, she heard him say, "Stop looking at me and eat. Aren't you hungry?"

He never looked up at her once, but he knew she was looking at him. Few people can be as sensitive as this man.

"Though I don't know what you've been through, I'm just an ordinary person. I don't want to be involved in any trouble. So please, leave as soon as possible," Gwyneth said, this time not raising her voice, afraid he might do something foolish, but wanting him to know clearly that she couldn't let him stay here forever.

Rad nodded, smiling gently. "That's obvious. You don't need to worry about that. Just do what you want, go to work, or go out, pretend like nothing happened, and don't tell anyone about me. Can you do that?"

"Yes..." Gwyneth felt relieved when Rad agreed to leave soon.

"Also, could you help me buy some new clothes?" Rad said with a calm expression as if it were normal for him to wear this dress.

Gwyneth looked down and couldn't help but laugh turned to the side and secretly smiled. She lived alone, never had a boyfriend, and never brought any man home before, so there were no men's clothes in the house. The dress he was wearing was the widest one in her wardrobe. But... the dress seemed to be almost torn due to Rad's tall and sturdy physique.

Thinking about living with this man for a while, she was sure he couldn't wear clothes of her.

"It's late now. Tomorrow, after work, I'll buy you some," Gwyneth said, wondering if she should also buy him other personal items because he couldn't possibly share hers. But she didn't know how long he would stay here.
