[2.1] Makayla- Drowning

The launch party was extremely high class. High over the top ladies and trimmed smart looking men. “C’mon this way,” Britney called moving through the crowd of waiters and the high-class association of A-list Celebrities.

I was trying so hard to take in the fabulousity of the whole thing, from the incredible décor to the food and ofcourse the celebrities, millionaires and billionaires alike, I had no idea where to start from.

“There he is!” Britney squealed eyes focused on one direction.

My eyes trailed to whatever it was she was looking at finally seeing the man himself, Chris Ryder, standing beside a well spread banquet of food, literally stuffing his face in. I watched in slight disgust as he snuck in a treat from the table of delights.

“They must have not been feeding it back in England,” I muttered, pulling at my bag strap turning slightly to Britney, “don’t they know you always have to feed it?” I huffed, embarrassed on his part.

His own party and the boy was starving. In his defense, Chris was an eater, the boy loved food almost as much as I did.

Almost.

I remain undefeated.

However, Britney didn’t seem to hear me, her cheeks already a bright rosy red, as she took a deep breath in, a wide smile permanently placed, before turning to me, “ I look good right?” she asked.

I looked at her with slight confusion wondering what she had to look good for. That? My eyes trailed off to Chris who was sneaking in another treat.

She didn’t wait for my answer, spinning around flipping her hair in my face, “I’m going in, “ she gleamed, and without further notice, walked towards Chris, leaving me gagging trying to get the taste of her hairspray out of my mouth, “ yes, you do that, flippy," I gagged.

I approached the two with a slight sigh, maintaining a short distance. Britney had snuck up on Chris from behind, covering his eyes with her hands so naturally now we had reached the awkward part, his hand’s feeling up her arm to get a clue of who it was.

“ Britney," he stated, turning slightly when she dropped her hands, a large smile on his godlike face.

Ten points for him.

Today would have been his death day had he guessed any other bitch. He should know his own girlfriends hands by now, I mean it had been 4 years and now...they were sucking each other’s faces off.

Great.

“I just remembered why I never hang out with you two,” I began approaching them as they took a short break for air I suppose.

They definitely needed air.

Chris paused for a minute, wrapping his arm around Britney as his eyes settled on me, “You guys are on a bicycle,” I explained casually, like it was basic mathematics.

Chris’ eyebrows furrowed, looking at me curiously, “what?” he asked full on confused, his alluring crystal blue eyes fixed on me, his hair still a fading silver, looking very smart in his tailored suit, straightened to the last wrinkle, correctly sporting out his athletic build.

I hated to admit it, but Chris was stupidly good looking, all the Ryder’s were.

“On a bicycle,” Britney repeated, her hand on his chest but her eyes fixed on me, “meaning she feels like she’s the third wheel,” she chuckled her eyes trailing back to me. You could literally see her happiness radiate off him, the girl was smitten.

Here comes the second barf of the day.

Chris chuckled too with a slight nod, “ah, I get it,” he began, I noticed he had developed a sort of English accent, “don’t worry, we’ll get a tricycle,”

“A tricycle for who?” I asked raising an eyebrow, looking over at him surprised.

“Uh…a tricycle, you know… because you said bicycle with only two wheels,” he began to explain, glancing over at an also confused Britney, “and a tricycle has…uhh 3 wheels?” he ended it in a question like way, glancing  between the both of us trying to make us understand whatever point he was trying to put across, “ because you said, you felt like…” he trailed off clearing his throat,” the third wheel,” the tone of his voice was lowering with each phrase, “so a tricycle means more room…per say,”

Britney and I exchanged looks when he added, “or maybe not, yeah a bicycles fine.”

We burst out into giggles as now it was Chris’ turn to pull the confused look, “I don’t  ...” he trailed of switching his glance between us too. He looked like an adorable confused puppy with those eyes.

“She’s just messing with you baby,” Britney explained through her melting chuckles. I grinned when his eyes fell on me.

“Relax, “ I eased,  folding my arms, “ I would have thought after four years you would have learned to speak Makaylan," I huffed, “you can destroy a whole army for a mythical object but can’t catch on to a joke?” I grinned.

“So… you’ve watched Silver Sworn,” he replied with a smirk, pulling Britney closer.

“Everywhere I go all I see is your face,” I grinned, “and by everywhere, I mean everywhere,” I clarified with a slight eye-roll.

He shrugged slightly, “yeah, I mean its part of the-“

“OH MY GOD, IS THAT DWAYNE JOHNSON!” I blurted out, my eyes widening at the sight of the silhouette figure of the giant of a man, dressed sharply at the far end of the room.

“Yeah but-”

“I’m so going to freaking love it here!” I gasped, without further warning leaving from their toxic presence. I heard Britney calling my name but when the glitz and glam of Hollywood calls my name, only my camera and I had its full attention.

Slipping through the crowd of people of people, I spotted a bunch of celebrity targets. After listing them in my mind, I stopped in the middle of the large ballroom like room, looking up above my head to the winding stairs, trying to spot any high place that was shadowy where I could get a couple of shots in without being spotted.

Heaven was listening because I spotted the perfect place, at the top of the stairs, hidden in darkness. The absolute perfect spot for angles.

Yes, that was it.

With my eye on the prized spot I gingerly swerved through the high class sorority of celebrities, the smell of expensive wine and rare perfume mixing in the air, making it smell like the scent of money. Like if wealth had a specific scent it would definitely smell like this room at the moment.

Pulling my camera bag closer to me, I began ascending up the stairs, sidestepping as a waiting descended. Moving about the second floor, I hunted for the spot I had spotted from below, finding it successfully. Hidden thoroughly by the shadows and the blessed loneliness of this floor, I could sneak in a lot of shots.

Carefully taking out my camera, I positioned myself, adjusting the lens. A smile spread on my features when I looked through, sporting the absolute perfect angle of any celebrity in the room at the moment.

Taking quick stable but efficient shots, I took the hell out of that room, a rush of excitement over taking me at each click of the camera, adrenaline rushing in and out till suddenly as I looked through the lens, a bulky man in a dark suit standing by a wall looked straight up at me, his eyes straining through as if trying to see through the darkness.

He was standing alone, with hands behind his back, his hand reaching for something in his ear as he said something, eyes still focused on me.

Security.

Shit.

Ducking out of sight, I carefully packed up my camera, glancing down at the man who was now nowhere to be seen. My eyebrows furrowed, standing up a little, looking over the crowd, and then I saw him, paired with another bulky man, walking up the stairs, glancing over in my direction.

Shit shit shit!

I needed no more assurance he was heading towards me. Keeping low, I moved like the skilled ninja I thought myself to be in a situation like this, solely keeping to the shadows. I sucked in a breath as they walked my way, slipping into an empty room. My heart thudded, my back against the door as I heard their footsteps approach, “she was somewhere around here,” voice was saying.

“She?” his security buddy repeated.

“Yeah, I didn’t really get a good look at her, but she definitely doesn't belong here Mike, the girl was wearing leggings for Christ sake," security guy one scoffed.

I glanced down at my leggings  and cursed, heart thudding as I heard the shuffling of their footsteps just right out the door, the door handle suddenly wiggled and I knew I was going to be caught, stepping behind the door, pulling my bag closer, it opened and a man walked in.

The lights being off was my only cover, as his frame blocked the door way. The light from the hallway streaming in, “nothing here Larry, check in the left hallway," security guy two boomed.

The door closed and I breathed out, hearing their footsteps fade away.

That was close. Like risky close.

After a good minute, I slowly peaked out of the door, relieved to find it security guy-less. Stepping out and closing the door behind me gently, I did a quick inspection before deciding it was best to head down to the party.

Moving carefully, I began my descent down the stairs, a slight shake in my hand, but revealing a calm exterior.

My eyes flashed back up to where I was coming from, my heart pounding when I saw the security guy standing in the exact spot I had been, looking down at the guests.

His gaze lingered toward the stairs and my gaze went down to the floor, heart pounding heavily. I risked a glance and saw him staring right at me, a walk talky in his hand, speaking into it.

I glanced at the bottom floor noticing that now two other security eyes were on me. Going back up would be better since there was less security but down gave me more hope as I was sure they would not make  a scene around the high class guests.

So I descended down quicker than before and then…

 I started weaving.

Rabidly weaving through the crowded room as could be done with my small frame, unlike that of the huge security boys, my heart ramming unapologetically. I reached the spot where I had left Britney but she was nowhere to be seen.

Probably sucking face with her actor boyfriend, ewe, I might throw up for real this time. What happened to sisters before misters?

Knowing I had no other option I ducked through the crowd leaving the ball room to another room this one very lonely.  I spotted a door and I thought why not? A room saved me last time it can surely do exactly that now, only this time when I opened the door, fresh air greeted me.

I had no time to understand why, turning to slide the door shut. Breathing heavily I turned to face a pool, a freaking gigantic one at that, adorned with fauna on both sides and trees, looking like a freaking resort. My curiosity got the better of me as I walked toward the edge looking out at the deep blue water, “god I want to live like this,” I mumbled beneath my breath.

Moving around the pool, I stood at the far edge, the absolute perfect position to view the whole villa that came up behind it in magnificent splendor.

A genuine smile spread on my face as I took in the beauty. Setting my bag on the green grass by the lingering bushes, I took out my tripod and my camera, setting them up. Taking one last look at the house, I took position behind the camera, staring at the splendor through the lens, steading my still shaky hand. I was just about to take a photo when the door slid open.

On pure reflex, I dived behind the bushes, my heart hammering in my chest, pulling down my tripod and camera with me that fell to the ground with a startling clank. I closed my eyes lying still, very, very still.

Oh please, please, I prayed.

I squeezed my eyes closed as I heard footsteps approaching the pool, keeping the prayer that no one would find me knowing it would be pretty hard to explain the tripod and camera.

My breathing was almost non-existent when I spotted the outline of shoes across the pool. I couldn’t see the persons face clearly because of the way the shadow’s crossed, but I could tell he was looking in my direction, a male voice called out,

“is anyone there?”

I froze recognizing the voice from every TV Ryder themed interview I had ever watched, the number one song that had been playing for seven consecutive weeks on the radio…oh kill me now.

Justin Frickin Star.

I had never met him in person, never, but I had a few close encounters-

“Hello!” he called out again, “ I know your there-” he huffed, I could feel his blazing gaze zero on my position and inwardly cried.

Please, please just leave. Dear lord let him leave. I’ll be a better person if you just please…

I risked a glance and saw him still staring in my direction, however he seemed unsure of himself as if debating if he should come and check-

“Justin.”

Did I just call him? No hand over my mouth here, there is no way I could be stupid enough to call him over. I watched as he turned around, finally seeing the hooded figure standing a few feet away from him.

Okay, so that’s who called him, makes more sense.

I breathed out in relief. Whoever that was just did me a big favor taking his attention away from me.

“Lucy?” Justin asked, seemingly surprised as he said this.

Lucy? Now where did I hear that name from? Common Makayla! Search your celebrity Ryder encyclopedia! I racked my brain whilst eyes remained glued on the two and the hit me.

Lucy! That was his first public girlfriend. Yeah, they were dating around the time Chris and Britney first got together. I remembered her. Strawberry blond chick with a high air about her, acting like she ruled the world. That was what?

Three years ago?

As I recall, they had a nasty falling out, but there wasn’t never an official statement put out.

This was my opportunity. If I recorded this conversation, who knows how much credit I’d get for a discovery this big! In excitement, I pulled up the camera, silently recording as I lay in the dirt.

“What are you doing here?” Justin all but spat, “how did you get past security?” his tone was vicious and unkind. I guess that falling out bit was true.

“I-I” Lucy began, a stutter in each word, “I just wanted to talk Justin,” she pleaded softly, her voice dripping with hope.

I wish I had some popcorn. This was like a Spanish novella only with white folks and poor lighting.

“I have absolutely nothing to say to you,” he gritted out his jaw tightening, anger laced in every word, “leave right now before I call security on your ass.”

My heart suddenly rammed against my ribcage at the mention of security, knowing fully well she might not be the only one getting dragged out. Was their falling out that bad that he couldn’t simply talk it out like civilized adults and opted for security like a wailing baby instead? He acted like she was some sort of animal for crying out loud.

“Justin please,” she begged, clasping her hands together. The desperation in her voice made me feel a little bit of pity for her, “I want you back, my life is nothing! It’s meaningless without you.”

“Oh honey,” I whispered lowly shaking my head, eyes making sure the camera was focused, “that’s just too much desperation sweetie.”

“Well My life couldn’t be better without you in it,” he growled back, his tone dark and lifelessly cold, sounding on the dot dead serious, no compassion whatsoever. “Lucy leave. Now.”

A dark shiver danced about my spine and I suddenly had a bad feeling about this. Moving into a more comfortable position, still recording but this time without the grin on my face I watched as Lucy approached him, desperately trying to make him see grace, “Justin...” she called trailing off, hey eyes sincere, “I love you, I’ve never stopped.”

I couldn’t help the eye roll that followed after this blatant confession. The guy had 200 million followers on I*******m. That’s more than 150 million girls and 50 million gay guys who could say the exact same words.

She realized she was speaking to Justin Star right? America’s heartthrob?

“Love,” he repeated like it was the understatement of the century, “ you love me?” he spat, maintaining his bitter tone, running a hand through his midnight hair in complete irritation,” you don’t love me!” he stressed, “ you don’t fucking blackmail the people you love Lucy!” I raised an eyebrow at this, “you don’t manipulate them and take what they feel for granted! That is not what people do when they love someone!” he yelled.

My heart thudded with each word, remaining as silent as I could. Black mail? I mean it’s not exactly a mystery, anyone could guess Justin Star was hiding something behind those drop dead gorgeous eyes of his. As sick as it was, it added to his fan girl appeal. He didn’t exactly scream angel, and neither was his reputation that declined rapidly about- 3 years ago.

Man, 3 was the number of the day.

But why? What happened three years ago?

Lucy seemed like a piece of his past he wanted dead and gone forever.

“I’m so sorry Justin please,” she pleaded, pulling her hoody down. The short raven hair that barely touched her shoulder was a contrast to the wavy long strawberry blond hair I remembered her with. She actually didn’t look good either, seeming to have sunken eyes and a skinnier frame, “I was so desperate for you back then,”

You’re still desperate.

Please forgive me,” she wailed falling to her knees.

Justin’s unforgiving eyes blazed with fury, “I don’t associate myself with Liars and I don’t want to be with, near or even as much as breathe the same air as you, ever again!”

I blew out a puff of air. Well, he seemed clear enough.

“ Justin please,”  she said, getting up on her feet, her hands now tugging at his jacket, he pushed her away quite viciously, “ what is wrong with you?” he growled, “ I told you to leave!”

My eyes narrowed on her features, at her hands reaching for him as the sudden realization crossed my mind.

She was obsessed with him.

Oh good lord, the stupid boy dated his stalker. A real life crazy fan turned ex stalker. I’ve had a run in with a few Shootingstars that is Justin Star’s loyal fan base, and they were plainly putting, inhumane savage beings.

“We can fix it! Fix us!” she cried out.

“Are you deaf?”

I was wondering the same thing.

“I don’t want you, Lucy!” he hissed, pushing her lingering hands away from him again, “you know why? Because there’s nothing to fix! I never loved you Lucy, I only stayed with you out of pity!”

Harsh, even for me that was harsh.

“You never meant anything to me, even less now!” he continued trying to get the point through to her I reckoned, “I don’t care what you do, but you’re going to stay the hell away from me and my family and the company! You are not wanted, you never where. You are the second biggest mistake I had ever made in my life and I do not want to ever see you again.  My life sucks because of you but is fucking better without you in it so just leave and don’t come back!” he hissed his tone devilishly dark.

I held my breath as he looked over the pool in my direction, clenching his jaw in clear frustration and irritation. It seemed even looking at her made his eyes burn. His anger radiated off him in streaks and at that moment even I felt a little scared, my hands shaking as they held up the camera. I had never thought I would see any one this angry.

Lucy stared at him for a minute, her voice coming out a shaky calm, “Justin," she called softly, “look at me.”

Justin kept his eyes on the bushes that contained me and for a scary moment I thought he could see me. He hissed, clenching and unclenching his jaw, his hands drawn to shaky fists. It seemed like he would burst at any moment, like he was holding back from going pyscho.

“You didn’t mean what you said,” she breathily whispered. He didn’t bother to look back or even answer.

“Fucking look at me!” she screamed so loud I was surprised no one else from the party hear her. She run a hand through her short hair, sniffing, “I gave you fucking everything!” she screeched, “My heart, my body, my mind, my everything and now you’re going to turn your back on me?!”

“No!” she screeched pacing back and forth, a hand running through her hair yet again, “I can’t let that happen.” She turned back to him, “Justin please,” her voice turned to raw filthy desperation. I fought the urge to get uo andtell her to stop making herself come off like that, geez! You are a woman, act like you own the frickin world!

Justin didn’t bother to say a word or even as much as turn to look at her. His chest was rising and falling rapidly, eyes shut closed as if he as trying to calm himself.

“I hate you!” she screamed like a cold blooded psychopath, sucking in air between her teeth in a sharp hiss, “I fucking hate you.”

My blood suddenly run cold, “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! You hear me!”

Still no response.

My heart suddenly dropped, wide eyes watching the figure behind Justin, “ well if I can’t have you,” her voice suddenly lowered, skipping a little as she sniffed, “then no one else can,” she finished just as Justin finally turned only to receive a big blow to the  backside of his head from a plank Lucy hand just lifted.

I clasped a hand over my mouth to stop me from screaming, eyes widening in horror as Justin staggered, looking back up at Lucy in total confusion, blood pouring from the side of his head, trailing down his ear, to his jacket as he stared at her in shock. Without further warning, he staggered back falling into the deep waters of the pool, immediately turning the crystal blue waves a deep crimson.

Lucy dropped the bloody plank and run.
