SLIP AWAY - II

Lisa chuckled, almost bursting into laughter at the rejection sentence Maxine had just uttered. Although her speech was calm, even her gaze was expressionless, Lisa could clearly see that Maxine seemed to want to say that notification from her was not something Maxim had been waiting for because she was jealous.

But in an instant, Lisa clenched her mouth, because Maxine tried hard to break the assumption even though Lisa did not convey it directly.

"I don't want to be a destroyer of their relationship," she said quietly.

Maxine got up from her seat, then walked to the spot where the only long window that matched Maxine's height, just behind Lisa's back. The girl stared straight into the empty streets with dry foliage flying in the wind.
