SLIP AWAY - I

That afternoon, Maxine begins to run out of ideas to fill her free time in hiding places. When she saw the surroundings were deserted, Maxine decided to breathe fresh air in her backyard.

Silence, unlike the previous days. Everyone goes to the Beer Festival in central Hillcester which is held twice a year.

Maxine swept her gaze, watching the foliage begin to fall into the courtyard of some of her neighbor's houses. Spring is approaching. She thought.

She smiled as a cold breeze swept across the skin of her face. She loves the cold spring air. Although it began to feel piercing, there was a splash of warmth when sweeping her face. That's one of the things Maxine likes in the spring, other than seeing dry foliage fall off.
