Can't catch me now

After her crying subsided Rogue fell asleep and I covered her with the blanket.

I turned to look at the woman who claims to be my mother.

I followed her into the kitchen and I knew that it was definitely going to be an awkward conversation but I owe her my life because she saved my daughter's life.

She turned on the stove and turned to look at me as I sat down.

"Would you like a cup of tea?"

I nodded quietly and she smiled at me.

While the water was heating up she sat opposite me.

I was the first one to break the ice.

"Thank you for looking after Rogue. I know that she can be a handful but she means no harm."

She nodded quietly and I could see that she was refraining from holding my hand.

It was better that way.

"It's alright you don't need to thank me after all she's my granddaughter."

I scoffed in annoyance.

"You didn't even know about her existence a few days ago and I'm sure that you only came across her by mere coincidence."
