Chapter 33 - Where Are You Going?

Elijah's POV

He entered the room and peeked at Charlotte lying on the bed. She was just sitting there, lost in thought. When she suddenly looked at him.

He smiled faintly. "Are...you—"

"No!"

He blinked at the forcefulness of her answer. It seemed like what he and Elisse did had upset her greatly. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to step forward and sit beside her, but he also hesitated because of Charlotte's angry expression.

"About the eggs—"

"What?! Are you going to tell me that the food I wanted to eat isn't delicious either? If you don't like what I want, don't even mention it to me!!"

She covered her face with both hands while crying. He sighed at her reaction, then approached and sat beside Charlotte.

"Elisse didn't mean to say that."

"I know, but it hurts me!"

He looked at Charlotte, who was still crying. Her palms were soaked. Tears streamed down her face, evident by the wetness between her fingers.
