The strange sound echoed through the woods again, and this time it sounded more like a struggle, rather than what posed a threat. I turned to Julius and the others, signaling for them to clear the area.

“Go check it out.” I whispered under my breath, careful not to give our position away.

Julius nodded and turned his attention to where the sound was coming from.

He waved to the others and in silence they moved, their steps deliberate. I glanced through the woods, checking for any sign of danger that might be near, my senses heightened.

The rustling of leaves and branches added to the feeling of unease and suspense, I stood in the middle of the woods, with two other pack members with me and watched as Julius and the rest cautiously moved through the woods.

Suddenly, Julius's voice pierced the silence with a sharp command.
