18 - Elaine's concern

Medea walked in moments later and happily acknowledged everyone present in the room which was not unusual of her. Medea was nineteen winters just like Claire and she was spirited and very friendly. Although she was very easy-going and fun to be with, she had the trait of wanderlust by going off on her own into the woods to discover places and new creatures. She was the daughter of a sentry, and her mother had died several years ago, leaving her to cater for herself while her father was stationed at the west gate and barely had enough time with her.

Elaine had chosen to care for Medea as her ward and that had made her part of the family too, however, she was not oblivious to the conflict between Medea and Claire for reasons she didn't know yet but she suspected the fault must be from Claire because she had always known her daughter to be domineering and narcissistic.
