Darlington Briggs;
I woke up in my bedroom to the fresh start of a brand new day. It's New Year's Day. I was so excited because I wanted to go downstairs to officially inform my parents that I wanted to get married this year, and I had made up my mind to settle down with Jenna Colton. Jenna has been my love since five years ago. I met her through her older brother, Bruce, because Bruce was my best friend in school. We studied the same business course, and we live in Country Z, the heart of the city. The Colton family was also wealthy and well-known here. Jenna's acting career has been successful. Several brands have featured her as their face. I knew that she had gone through the knife and undergone a lot of surgeries to enhance her beauty, but I still love her nonetheless. I love Jenna very much, and I didn't regret my decision to propose to her last weekend to marry me. My father didn't react to my post, and to make matters worse, I cannot seem to find him online again after the news of my engagement to Jenna went viral. My father purposely blocked me so he wouldn't see me post about Jenna again. My dad had warned me to stop posting about Jenna. But Jenna is the woman after my heart. How would I not post about the love of my life? That would mean I was cheating on her. I love Jenna very much, and she's like the air I breathe. I cannot live without her; this is what I tell her every time, and I know that Jenna was hesitant about accepting my engagement ring from me. But she knew that I had always wanted us to settle down. I had assured Jenna that she shouldn't worry about my father, and I would speak to him about agreeing and accepting our marriage. Jenna had told me that she wasn't ready for marriage now and had a lot of things to do in her modeling job unless I waited for her, but I assured her that I wouldn't stop her from fulfilling her dreams just because she's my wife. Since we started dating, I had supported her before, and I am still supporting her now. I got out of bed and prepared to go downstairs to inform my father about my new marriage decision. My father detested Jenna and had warned me to stay away from her; more likely, I should tell her not to find me again in our company. I wish I could visit my office and workspace, but I am unable to do so. I love Jenna very much, and I mean every word that I said and used when confessing my feelings to her. I got into my bathroom. My room was vast and spacious enough. It could contain more than three luxury beds, and there would still be more space. I finished bathing and saw that the time was after 9 a.m. On New Year's Eve, we had a cross-over night celebration at home, so I woke up late. I was with my family, waiting to witness the fireworks and the crossing over to a brand new year. I cannot wait to become a father soon. I know Jenna was scared of getting pregnant for me, but I want to marry her and assure her that I will always be there for her. I went into my closet and grabbed a purple shirt and black trousers, which I wore. I comb my short black hair on my head. I like to keep my hair smooth, so I left it to grow slightly. I finished combing my hair and then applied my masculine perfume to make me smell fresh, like New Year's Day. I wore my black slippers and finally exited my bedroom on the top floor of my father's enormous mansion. We live in a standard duplex home. The house consists of 8 rooms, with a living room downstairs that includes a kitchen and guest rooms. My father was the one who designed and instructed the constructors on how to build his massive mansion. Jenna had told me that she didn't like to visit me here in my parents' home, as she knew that my father disapproved of her. I plan to buy a new house to move out of, just like Bruce did. But when I told my mother about it, that I planned on buying my own home. My mother frowned and said that it was too early for me to be living alone now. However, I aspire to lead an independent life. She said that when my father married her, they lived in my grandpa's house in the countryside until my father had money and moved to the city to buy his own house. According to my mother, I shouldn't move out here until I have a child or two children; then, I can move out of my father's house. Well, this didn't sit down well with Jenna, and I promised her that I would get a house for her once we were married. I walked downstairs into the living room, and my father was alone. He sat on the black couch in the living room and was wearing a white garment, like he hadn't taken his bath yet. He was going through a file in his hands, and I walked downstairs to greet him. "Good morning, Father," I said, and my dad paused what he was reading and looked at me. He took off his glasses, which were perfectly seated on the bridge of his nose. He kept it inside the case and looked back at me as a warm smile crept on his face. He replied to my greetings, "Good morning, Darlington." Happy New Year." "Happy New Year, Dad. Where is Mom?" I inquired, and my dad said, "She's upstairs and still in her room. "You know that we slept late last night." "I know, Dad," I replied, sitting across from my father. "Yes, Darlington. That reminds me. I wanted to tell you about this yesterday night, but I decided not to be in a hurry about it," my dad said. "What is it, Dad?" I inquired, looking at my father's face. He sighed and said, "Your wife, Amara Nicholas, is coming to the city today. "She will start living with us." "What!" I exclaimed in utmost disbelief.Darlington Briggs; I immediately rose from the black couch and stared at my father in shock. "Whose wife, Dad?" I asked my father again, wanting to be sure, and he stood up too and said, "Darlington, I have told you that you cannot marry Jenna." "I married my best friend's daughter for you because she's well-mannered and not a corrupt young woman like Jenna Colton." "Dad... I cannot believe that you're saying this. I am the one who will marry Jenna, not you! "What gives you the right to think that you can decide on my life like this and impose a woman on me in order for me to marry?" "That's enough, Darlington! I won't have you disrespect me in this house. You see what an elder sees when sitting down; even if you climb the tallest tree, you still cannot see it. Jenna is a corrupt woman, and she wouldn't make a good wife for you. Don't you see how she looks with her artificial body? Do you think she will want to settle down and have children with you? I am very certain she's cheatin
Darlington Briggs; How would you feel if your parents imposed a spouse on you? Who have I never met before? I watched my father walk away from us by climbing the stairs, and he went back to his room, exiting our view. "Mother," I gazed back at my mother, struggling to comprehend and assimilate the news my father had just shared about my impending marriage, like a piece of paper signed on an agreement. "Calm down, Darlington. You will not marry any Amara Nicholas, not while I am here," my mother said, and my younger sister laughed, making me glare at her. "What's so funny, Samara?" My mother asked her before I could. "Just because your father didn't marry you off like that, right?" That's why you are shamelessly laughing at your older brother, right?" "No, Mother." Our mother looked displeased at Samara, who coughed and apologized to us, "Mom, I'm sorry. But this is very funny. How can our dad marry Darlington without Darlington consenting to it or knowing about it, and now his
Darlington Briggs; After my breakfast with my mother and my sister ended, I stood up from the dining chair and set out to leave our family house. "Darlington, where are you going too?" My mother asked me with a worried look on her face. I assured her, "Mom, I am just going out; I will be back soon.". "Okay, my son."But do you think it is best not to inform Jenna? She may overreact; allow me to handle everything for you. Then later, you can share the news with her about how your father wanted to force you to marry a lowlife." I sighed. "Alright, mom. I won't tell Jenna about it, but I feel like leaving this house for now. I don't want to be here when that woman arrives," I said, with a hint of frustration. "It's okay. Just be fine out there," my mother assured me. "Sure, Mom. I'm not a kid; I will be good. Take care," I said, hugging my mother. Though I was taller than her and Samara, they're my family, and their happiness matters to me. Well, I cannot say the same about my da
Darlington Briggs; I waited for Jenna to arrive, and after taking my bath, I requested something edible to eat. After a long afternoon nap, my phone ringing on the table in my room woke me up. I immediately got out of the hotel bed, and realizing it was already evening, I frowned, as I had expected Jenna to arrive before this time. I picked up my phone, seeing that my mother was calling me. "Hello, Darlington. Where are you?" My mother asked me, and I yawned and stretched before I replied, "I am somewhere special, Mom. Why are you calling me?" I didn't want to think it was because of the new lady who was arriving at our mansion, and my mother confirmed to me, "She's already here in our house, Darlington, and your father has been trying to call your mobile number since to know where you are, but it's not connecting. Where are you? Start coming home." "No, Mother. Why?" I told you earlier that I wasn't interested in seeing this lady. I don't care who she is or where she's from. I s
Darlington Briggs; Jenna turned to face me. Her lips quiver, but she shakes her head and replies, "No, Darlington. Not now. I cannot get pregnant now. I want to win the award for the top model of this year and also the best international model award. I have also signed a contract worth 50 million bucks, and you expect me to cancel all that and put it aside to now become your baby mama. No, I cannot do that now." I sighed. "Not a baby-mama for me, Jenna, but as my wife," I replied, standing up from the bed and walking up to meet Jenna, where she stood and folded up her arms around her chest. "I know Darlington. Just give me some time to sort myself out first. I am not yet ready to become pregnant," Jenna stated. "Hmm." I knew that my father wouldn't change his mind now. Especially not when he has gone ahead and married his friend's daughter for me. I was frustrated about Jenna's constant refusal to get pregnant for me, and I was not ready to lose my position as the CEO of Br
Darlington Briggs: I didn't care what Jenna used the money that she usually received from her work to do. So long that she was looking sweet for me. Also, I knew that her parents were billionaires, and her elder brother, Bruce Colton, was my friend. Jenna didn't lack anything; she became speechless, but she still shook her head firmly and replied, "No, darling." I worked so hard to get to the top of my rank. I cannot just quit now... I can't get pregnant as of now. It will ruin my shape and spoil my career too. You know all the problems that come to a woman after childbirth." "What!" I exclaimed, looking at Jenna in shock. "Ruin your shape? Is that all you care about—your shape and money? How about us becoming married like you have always wished for and having our family together?" I questioned. Jenna frowned, walked up to meet me, and replied, "Darling, we will have children. I'm not saying that I won't. But not now. I was planning to discuss this with you. About the two of us ge
Darlington Briggs: "Okay," Jenna agreed, and I called on the room service. Soon, our meals arrived, and I refrained from telling Jenna that my parents had already found a new wife for me, and this was especially true for my father. I couldn't tell Jenna about it. Not when she is suggesting that we use a surrogate mother and has no desire to become pregnant for me. I was frustrated by her constant refusal to get pregnant. But yes, I was a billionaire, and I could afford to get a surrogate mother, but I wouldn't say I liked the idea of it. I wanted to see my wife become pregnant for me and bear our child. I don't know if I am being selfish about this. But I honestly wanted to see my wife become pregnant. I knew that some women had lost their lives through the pregnancy journey, and it wasn't an easy task like that. I sighed and finally had dinner with Jenna. "Ain't you going home today?" Jenna asked me as she was through with her meal. We both had a plate of jollof rice and frie
Amara Nicholas; I arrived earlier at the Briggs family mansion. I had not been here before, and as Mr. Timothy drove my father's sleek black Mercedes-Benz car into the compound premises and parked, I couldn't help but admire the front view of the exquisite mansion. The mansion looked so lovely and homely, and the surroundings also seemed so calm. I finally got out of the car, and just then, I saw an older man step out of the mansion. He was wearing a white polo and black trousers, with slippers. He walked up, excited to meet me. Just as I finally got out of the car,. "My beautiful daughter-in-law, you are highly welcome to our humble home," the man said to me, with widely opened arms, as he finally approached me and hugged me warmly. I smiled shyly and managed to respond to him. Thank you, sir. Good evening" "Good evening, my dear. Come, let us go inside," the middle-aged man ushered me inside the mansion. I recognized him to be Mr. Joshua Briggs—my father's best friend and also
