Vera's POV:

"Sam already suffered his whole life. Being pushed around. Being isolated. He already went through so much. So why do more bad things keep happening to him?"

I wrapped my arms around her; feeling her head pressed against my chest. Her breath began to shorten and sharpen as time passed. I patted her back as she continued her sorrowful cries.

Being a mother is never easy.

I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I look up to see Mr.Thompson. Silently, I slipped away as he took my seat of comfort. "It's okay sweetheart. Let it all out." His mellow voice crashed into the atmosphere.

"He can't do it. I won't let my baby suffer in jail. I won't let him. I won't let him." She muffled into his chest.

"He won't."

And as I watch the scene in front of me, I noticed something. Every time I saw Mr.Thompson, it seemed like he had aged. There were more wrinkles, more massive bags. He still a handsome man, but tired nonetheless.

Being a father isn't easy, either.
