Chapter 69

“A cat died after eating something from the bin,” the girl said, causing dread to fill my loins.

I pushed my way into the crowd and saw a tall blonde girl crying over a lifeless cat in her arms. Her friends tried to console her but she wasn’t having any of it.

“I’m so sorry, Pea. I’m so sorry for angrily putting you out this morning… I didn’t know it was going to be the last time I see you.” She cried sorrowfully.

My chest dipped in guilt. Could the cat had died from the food I dropped in the bin?

“It had to be food poisoning. Didn’t you say you found Pea here, and it had a drop of milk when you found it?” one of her friends remarked. It made me feel worse.

It couldn’t have been the milk I dropped in the bin. There were little cans of drink in the bin before I dropped mine. Besides, after I had gone, more people would have disposed their dirt or meals.
