Chapter 49

EMILIA POV

“Lucas is nowhere near dead,” Seth reported to me, and I frowned at him. “Where have you been hiding? Inside some sort of cave? Where is Katarina? What about the vampire? Most importantly, how are you still living and breathing?”

“Do not bombard me with questions just yet, Seth,” I scolded him sternly, and he surprisingly went mute. “I already told you that I’m here to have a conversation with you, so bear in mind that I also have questions of my own.”

“What do you want?” He demanded, and I could see the skepticism in his eyes. If I gave him the chance to run away on me, he would; I just knew it.

“First off, I want you to sit back down on the bed as quietly as you possibly can without having to alert the three idiots who are supposed to be guarding you downstairs.”

I walked forward slowly, making sure that I didn’t pose myself as a physical threat that would have him running out of there and sabotaging everything I had worked for so far.

“I do not fear you, Emilia,” he said
