Chapter 1

Isolated in mind but sorrounded in physical, Emily sat on a log of wood as she observed the crowd of friends who were savouring every moment of fun they were experiencing. It was summer holiday and unfortunately for her she had been trapped in this summer camp deep in the woods with these people, she rubbed her palms bringing a warm feel on it desperately trying to calm her nerves.

She felt the cold touch of a male hand on hers, instantaneously her moving hands stopped, she moved her gaze slightly to catch a glimpse of the reassuring smile on the face of her best friend Glenn. He knew what she was going through and so did the rest of the crowd but he cared about her feelings and felt genuinely concerned for her. She placed her second palm on top of his and smiled bitterly at him, fighting back the tears that pressured to fall off.

Summer camp was what she looked forward to every year, having a fun time with friends but this time was different, she had given herself a full week of toture in hell and she couldn't wait to get out of it. Without warning her eyes reflexed to the sound she had heard, the giggling of the voice that made her heart burn in jealousy. It was the blonde girl Bailey, she sat across her sitting on the laps of her now ex-boyfriend Shawn, the guy that made her heart explode in feelings. He had been her long time crush and finally she had her chance at dating him only to be dumped for a much prettier, hotter blonde senior.

Shawn was every high school girls fantasy, his protruding abs would make them crave for a touch, his killer looks got their eyes dizzy at his sight, he was even hotter being the school's baseball captain and he was excellent at the game. Emily had a short lived romance dating the hottest, meanest and popular guy in school and when it ended she as the victim got no sympathy from the masses. Majority of the girls hated her for having Shawn's heart and Bailey was loved for putting an end to it.

It was toture and it killed her to see that the guy she had been so infactuated with cared little about her feelings and was kissing this girl that had not half the heart she did in front of her, knowing the amount of pain he was putting her through but of course, he was Shawn after all and no matter what he did, he was right.

Her eyes soon shifted to catch the worried gaze of two sisters, summer and may, the blonde and blue eyes sister. They were twins and also among her league of friends, they knew her torment but she had made them promise to enjoy every bit of camp not having to worry about her.

"No." She muttered, shaking her head in dissaproval of their pity eyes. They got the message and pretended to be distracted from her plight.

She sighed hiding her fist which haboured her anger, she swallowed hard attempting to reduce the aching pain in her throat and the twist she felt in her chest. It was difficult to breath while trying to hold in a tear. Her emotions were getting hightened and threatened to erupt, all she wanted to do at that moment was scream, give a piece of her heart to everyone and say all the horrible things the voices in her head had been pushing her to say. She couldn't help it, she hated everyone of them that didn't care.

Letting out a deep breath she eased a tiny bit of tension, she shot her eyes briefly focusing on the sight of fire as the woods crackled burning from it's flames. Strangely it made her head calm a bit and the voices were gradually dissapearing then she twisted her face for a frown as if realizing something.

"He doesn't deserve me, he is nothing but an empty vessel. How did I end up falling for such a cruel being." She thought within herself. In just fleeting seconds she had realized he wasn't worth her tears and attention, flaunting his new girlfriend before her, could be his attempt at spiting her for not begging at his feet to take her back, after he had dumped her when she confronted him for cheating on her with Bailey. While she made resolutions in her head, she got distracted by the drunken footsteps of Bryan, one of the campers and across the street neighbor towards her. Glenn had stood in her defence asking him to back off. She decided to ignore the situation knowing what it would end at. Bryan was going to make fun of her and her single status.

While their voices had initially sounded faint in her ears she finally payed attention to it. Bryan had just made a statement both she and Glenn dreaded.

You two will make a good match in bed and a lot of mess." He said while staggering back. Glenn's anger overpowered his will of patience and he bounced on Bryan throwing several punches at his face before being dragged away by some of the campers. Bryan kept laughing like he was insane almost like he didn't feel the effect of Glenn's fury melted out on him.

"Don't do it Glenn he's not worth it " Emily said trying to calm him, his breath was heavy and he was ready to finish what he started. Bryan's nose was bleeding and he casually cleaned it off amidst his laughter.

"Are you crazy? You want to have him killed?" A male voice spoke still holding him firmly so he wouldn't break free.

"Not on my watch," the domineering voice of another male remarked. Emily felt her heart leap, she thought she was getting through this but obviously a day wasn't enough to forget, Shawn made his way to the middle while everyone gave him a little space. "Summer camp is almost over, we don't want to spend the last moments fighting, do we Glenn? He asked with an ingenuine smile on his face and he got nothing but a glare from Glenn which he ignored. He stretched his hand towards Bryan who accepted the aid.

"We shouldn't let this little incident spoil the moment, we have few hours before summer camp ends, so let's make it memorable." A sweet feminine voice said, they all have approving gestures before returning to their initial positions. At this point Emily had had enough, she couldn't stand being in the midst of these people. She watched as Summer and May lead Glenn to sit. She stood there watching Bailey who had just spoken to the crowd, her voice was poisen to her ears and she detested hearing her speak.

"Wait... Did you all hear that? Bailey's voice was heard again and Emily only wished for one thing, to rain her anger and jealousy physically on her. The crowd made different reaction to her question, she seemed really serious about what she heard but they all waved it off and laughed about it. Leaving Shawn with the sole duty of convincing her that it was nothing and she just had things confused.

Emily knew that one more second and she was going to explode, so without haste she set out a foot in a flight to disappear from everyone.

"Emily wait! Summer yelled as she went after her while May followed.

"Don't let this get to you Em, it's dangerous going out there on your own." May tried convincing.

"I just ... I just need to be alone please," she cried, there was a moment silent amongst the three girls, they could feel the desperation in her voice and it wouldn't help stopping her.

"Then if you must go, don't go far and come back soon."

"May?" Summer rebelled at the two coming to terms, it wasn't a good Idea letting Emily out in the woods and May was giving her a quick pass at it.

"I'll be fine summer, I just need a lone time at a corner, won't go far. Please."

Summer sighed feeling defeated, either way she couldn't stop Emily once she made up her mind. She walked back to the log of wood Emily had sat on, searched through her bag and got out a tiny touch which she handed over to her.

"Be safe " she said giving her a quick hug. Emily simply nodded and set out immediately while the girls walked back to join the rest.

Her tears had defeated her and she began sobbing bitterly as she walked not looking at where she was headed. After walking some distance she stopped suddenly after hearing what seemed like a silent growl, she quickly held her torch up but the place was dark that the little light she had couldn't help. She had been deep in the woods without knowing and she scanned the place genuinely confused on which way she came from, she made several attempts at finding her way back but it ended up confusing her even more. Then she stopped trying to make meaning of the sound she was hearing and gradually it became clearer and it indeed sounded like a beast growling, she had not recovered from the shock when suddenly the shiny red eyes of a beast grabbed her attention in the dark. She was terrified and in her shocked state, she felt a force drag her down her feet, sharp claws burrowed into her leg, she let out a loud scream but before any help could come the same force swiftly pulled her out of sight taking her further into the dark wood.
