Chapter 2: You will be my breeder

The king has found his long-awaited Fated Luna!" Harold declared it aloud for everyone to hear.

Jubilation filled the air as they all clapped their hands together. Almost everyone becomes curious in the hall as they await who their Luna is.

"Let's rise to our feet as we welcome the King and the fated Luna of Eldoria!" The lights dimmed as everyone stood up from their seats.

Selene was sitting beside her mother when Harold made the announcement. All eyes were fixed on the entrance as two figures emerged from the wide-opened door of the hall. Petals of flowers were scattered on the floor they walked on.

Selene was happy, as everyone in the kingdom knew the Lycan King had been deprived of a mate since he ascended the throne.

Every lady was awed at the beauty of the king; he was undoubtedly handsome in the blue coat that trailed down his body. They all smiled as the background flute began to play. The two couples walked up the podium, and the bright glow from the chandelier on the ceiling shone on them.

Selene's eyes almost popped out of their sockets as she saw the man under the warm glow of one of the chandeliers. His dark eyes locked with hers in the hall as she locked eyes with him, unable to say or utter a word. Her heart thudded in her chest as dread filled her heart.

The same man who came to her pulled her closer to him and even whispered in her ears. Her fated mate was the king, King Rayne Sullivan, the Alpha King of Eldoria.

"Let us pay our respects to King Rayne Sullivan and his destined partner, Isabella Winters." Silas declared for everyone to hear.

Everyone bowed their heads as they heard the clear words of Harold. Selene's eyes welled up in tears as she bowed, and her throat felt parched from the shock.

She swallowed the saliva at the back of her throat and straightened her back, just like everyone else, raising their heads.

When she stared at the king this time, he wasn't looking at her. Rayne gave everyone a beautiful smile, while his fated Luna, Isabella, did the same. The woman was wearing a blue dress with petals of flowers designed on it. The dress exposed some of her cleavage, and her neck was adorned with beautiful jewelry. She is a very beautiful woman.

Selene recognized her, and so did everyone in the hall. Everyone was told to sit down on the seat, but Selene couldn't keep her emotions intact as she found herself in a trance state, her mind reeling.

“Selene, what is wrong?" Her mother asked as she held her hands.

“Your mind is elsewhere, Selene; what are you thinking about? If it's about your fated mate, you will see him before the end of today, just like how the King met his fated Luna today." Selene's heart only shattered more when she heard this.

Her gaze began to blur as tears welled up in her eyes, but she wasn't going to break down now.

She didn't know how to tell her mother that the man who claimed to be her mate was the king. “I'm fine, mother. I'm just happy for the king." She said to her mother in a calm tone

“OK, child. You will get to smile too before the end of today,” her mother assured her before looking at her front to see the king and queen standing beside each other.

“People of Eldoria," Rayne called, his eyes fixated on a woman in the crowd.

“As you all know, I finally found my mate after several years of searching. I won't waste any more time and will marry Ivy Hawthorne tomorrow at this same hour of the day. Everyone is welcome at the palace. Enjoy the rest of the party," Rayne declared in his deep voice, which resonated through the hall, cutting through the silence of the hall.

His eyes were still fixated on that woman in a blue dress. The crown jubilates as the music begins to play again. Selene found herself looking at him before he departed the hall with the future Queen of Eldoria.

Without wasting any more time, the celebration began again as people began to wine and dine. Everyone was happy with this great news, except Selene.

Selene wondered if the king had made some mistake in approaching her, but what would make the great Alpha King approach someone like her? Selene made her way out of the hall to at least catch some fresh air.

Her skirt flowed behind her as she stood on the terrace of the stairs, far away from the hall and from where the people were singing and jubilating. Her eyes appeared lost as she stared into the darkness that enveloped the castle.

“Don't tell me you are trying to kill yourself by falling off the balcony."

Selene recognized the voice and turned abruptly towards it, stepping on her long skirt. She felt herself almost falling off the terrace, and her heart accelerated, wondering if she was finally going to die after withstanding the insults and humiliation thrown at her face all her life without having the time to prove to them that she was strong.

However, before she could fall, she saw the Alpha King draw her closer by her waist, preventing her from falling and regaining her footing on the floor.

"Weak human," he mumbled quietly as he observed her not being able to make eye contact with him.

“Thank you, my king. I will be more careful," she said shyly in a deep bow.

Rayne released her waist, and she stepped back in reflex. Selene didn't know if she should ask him what he meant by calling her his mate when he had already found his Luna. She didn't know how to say it to the king, but she decided to leave instead of asking him stupid questions that could cost her life.

“I will take my leave now, my king," she said, about to turn her back and go back to the hall, when he suddenly asked her.

“Where are you running off to, young woman?"

His deep baritone voice washed away her worries as her feet remained glued to the floor.

“I... I just..." She found herself stuttering when his dark orbs stared into her black ones.

“I never knew my fated mate would be such a weak human. You are not even a weak omega but something is not right." he commented, walking around her as he dipped his hands into his pocket.

Selene thought the king would have a grumpy face with lots of beards, just like his father, but who knew he cared about his looks?

“My king, I don't know what you are talking about."

“Or are you just pretending not to have heard?" He asked as he stopped behind her.

She could see he was smelling her neck as if she were some sweet honey.

Selene parted her lips to ask him what he was doing, but he beat her to it.

“What is your name?" He asked, still standing behind her; he was no longer smelling her neck.

“Selene," she replied, feeling herself vulnerable before him like an open book.

“Hmmm..." He hummed before walking around to stand before her.

“You will be my breeder as from today. You will be confined within the walls of the palace." Rayne declared.
