Chapter 7

*Astrid's POV*

I and Lucas were having some business discussions in his study when a guard called our attention that someone wanted to see me.

"Me?" I questioned with a confused frown on my face.

"Yes ma'am."

"Alright, I'll be there." I replied, the guard then bowed before leaving.

"Were you expecting a visitor?" Lucas asked.

"No, I'm not, in fact I'm equally surprised as to who that is."

"Then we better go see them." Lucas stood up and I followed suit.

As we went to the throne room, I had no idea I would be faced with the biggest shock of my life.

When we finally arrived at the throne room, the guard guarding outside instantly opened the door and when we walked in, I stopped dead in my track.

The person's back was turned to us, but no matter how long it's been, I could still identify that person when I see them.

"Kai!" I muttered in shock.

My heart was literally pounding in my chest, perspiration broke out from everywhere in my body and when he finally turned around to face us, I stumbled back in shock.

"You!?" I heard Lucas say and I became so confused.

"Who the hell let this man in here!? What are you doing here!? You dared to venture into my territory, you must be asking for a war Alpha Kai and you had better be prepared because that's what you'll get!"

"W what's going on? What's happening?" I stuttered.

"Astrid." Kai called, he tried walking towards me, but Lucas blocked his path.

"Don't you even dare think about it, don't you dare come close to her." Lucas growled dangerously.

"Do you even think you can stop me?" Kai scoffed. "Get out of my way Lucas, you know too well you're no match for me, I came here only for my mate, not to fight!"

"Mate?" Lucas repeated and then he looked at me. "Astrid?"

Hearing those words from his mouth only made me furious, how dare he shamelessly show up in front of me after what he did to me? How dare he call me his mate when he was the one who betrayed me and rejected me!?

The memories I had tried so hard to forget all came rushing and this time, I wasn't filled with pain but rather all I felt was hate and anger. I hate him so much that I can't even stand the sight of him!

"Ex mate you mean." I said angrily. "And what the hell are you doing here Kai!? How dare you show your face to me after so many years and after what you did to me!? How dare you!" I raged.

"Astrid I..." He tried coming to me, but Lucas only pushed him away.

"Get away from her! Don't you even dare take another step towards her." He warned.

"I'm warning you Lucas, don't provoke me, otherwise you will regret it."

"Oh shut up!" I snapped. "Do not forget where you are Kai! You're in the wild crest pack, not your pack, you came here uninvited and dare to cause trouble, you'll be making a very big mistake if you try anything stupid."

"Astrid, please listen to me, I beg you to give me a chance to speak to you, please Astrid, please." He pleaded.

"I don't want to listen to anything you have to say, what we had has been over for many years now, I just want you out of here and out of my life forever!" I seethed.

"Just give me a chance Astrid, please I'm begging you to give me a chance, let me speak to you please."

"You heard what she said Kai, don't make this any more difficult and get the hell out of my pack! I wouldn't want to have them drag you out since you've broken all rules and crossed a boundary you shouldn't have."

"Astrid, please hear me out, I beg of you. I truly regret everything I did and I'm sorry, please give me a chance to explain." He pleaded desperately.

I scoffed loudly. "It's too late to beg Kai, you never came after me when I left, you didn't do anything, you betrayed me with my own best friend and now you're here to beg," I scoffed. "It's only in your dreams that you'll see me speaking to you, just get out of here Kai! Get out! I don't want to see your face again, so please get lost and never show yourself in front of me again." I screamed.

"Please leave while I'm still being nice Kai," Lucas said.

"Astrid." Kai called softly, but I turned my face away, I didn't want to see him, I just couldn't bear to look at him.

My eyes stung with unshed tears, but I didn't want to cry in front of him, I don't want him thinking he still has any effect on me and see me as a weak woman. I bit my bottom lip hard as I tried so hard to stop my tears from falling.

Kai said nothing else, he pretended to leave, but when he got past Lucas, he rushed to me and hugged me so tight.

"I'm so sorry Astrid, please forgive me, I'm so sorry." He cried.

At first I was shocked and could do nothing, I simply stood there frozen, but when I came back to my senses, I tried pushing him off but he wouldn't budge.

"Let me go Kai, let go of me!" I yelled, still trying to fight back my tears.

"I can't Astrid, I don't want to let you go, please forgive me."

Lucas rushed to us and also tried pulling him away, but Kai's hold on me was just too strong.

"You're hurting me!" I screamed and that was when he let go of me.

The moment Kai let me go, Lucas punched him hard across the face.

I gasp in shock as my hands covered my mouth.

"How dare you lay your filthy hands on my woman!" Lucas thundered.

"What?" Kai questioned in disbelieve. "Your woman?" He repeated.

"Yes! My woman." He confirmed and then he took my hand.

I looked at Lucas in shock.

"We're getting married soon." He announced and my eyes widen with shock.

"What!!"
