Falling

The door was pushed open and Lucian walked in with a dark expression, he glared at the maids. “Leave.” They all shuddered in fear, rushing out of the room.

Seeing the crazed expression on Lucian’s face, terror warred within Renée’s chest, sending her heart into overdrive, as the acidic tang of fear coated the back of her throat. “Why am I here?”

There was no response, Lucian only stared at her face and trailed down to her night dress that was slightly exposed to reveal teasing peeks of her skin.

“Lucian?” She asked cautiously, she felt fear from just looking at him.

“I’m sorry.” Lucian walked towards the bed slowly and settled close to her. He pulls Renée into a hug.

Then he holds her tighter, his arms like bands around her, her face smothered against his chest. At first it’s comforting and Renée relaxed in his hold. But his arms squeezed her even tighter and she suddenly felt like she couldn’t breathe.
