Chapter Fifty-Seven

Hunter-

I held Kyra as she cried until the sun came up. My body was stiff from sitting in the same position. Her sobs became less frequent, but I could feel her pain as if it were my own. Desperately, I wished there was something I could do for her. Moving her away, so I can stand, I stretched my aching body to relieve some of the tension.

Bending over, I picked her up and cradled her to my chest. I couldn’t just let her sit out here the rest of the day, so I carried her back to the house. When we arrived, everyone that was living at the packhouse was waiting in the foyer, concern etched on their faces. Kyra still wasn’t ready, and I wasn’t going to let her be bombarded with a slew of questions.

Shaking my head at them, I motioned for them all to disperse while I carried Kyra up to our room. I didn’t want to leave her, so I linked Caleb to take over for me today, so I could just be there for Kyra. I didn’t have to convince him, he had already taken charge and
