Chapter 2

I watched as his eyes diverted from mine, facing the floor, his hands fidgeting, and then he said the formidable.

"I want a divorce!" The words pierced through my heart like an arrow, shattering me beyond repair. This can't be true! This is a lie, no. No.. this is a dream!

"What do you mean, Adrian..." I stuttered, trying to affirm if I had heard correctly.

"You heard me, Violet. I want a divorce!" He repeated, saying the words like it meant nothing to him.

"Why? Is there anything I'm not doing correctly, for you want me to change..." I was still trying to talk when he cut me off.

"Enough, Violet! You both know I had zero intention of getting married to you. If not for my father's command, I would have rejected you the very same day the moon goddess revealed that you're my mate," With each word he uttered, it reminded me of the past, like several arrows shot at once.

"But we've been married for four years now... You're addicted to my body, we are compatible, you admitted it yourself," I stuttered, trying to convince him.

"Don't you get it, Violet? I only did what I did imagining that you are her! I wonder how you spent four years of your life knowing the fact that you're living in betrayal," he stood up, facing the door as he spoke.

My jaw gritted as he reminded me of years ago; realization suddenly dawned on me on the part he was trailing. "It's because of her, right?" My voice stuttered, a tinge of hope in me, hoping he was going to say no, hoping he would deny it and say no.

"Yes," the bombshell dropped, and then I knew I've lost Adrian finally. It was finally a lost battle.

"Emily is back, and I'm going to get married to her, so sign the divorce papers, and I'll settle you with a high alimony. It will be enough to make you one of the richest women in our pack," his voice spoke, his cold eyes piercing mine.

To hell with his money, I don't care if I was going to be the richest. The only thing I had sought after was happiness, but ended up in bitterness.

As a young girl, I had been very beautiful enough to capture any man's heart, but I had never been so beautiful to capture only one man's heart, and that was Alpha Adrian. Instead, he had preferred my best friend Emily over me.

I fell in love with Alpha Adrian right from the age of five when he rescued me from a rogue attack. I grew up with every single of my being loving him and hoping to get married to him one day. But my dream was cut short when Emily eventually announced to me that she was in a relationship with Adrian. I had cried bitterly that day, and lived trying to suppress my crush for him, but it only worsened. Just his sight alone was enough to send butterflies buzzing through my tummy.

"So, you're willing to let go of what we shared because of her? Four years of our lives?" I asked in disbelief, reflecting on the past, on how affectionate he had been. The moment of bliss we had spent together cradling in each other's arms.

"I'm willing to walk through fire for her sake!" He said to my face, I've had enough heartbreak already in one day.

"Sign the papers already, we can't keep arguing over this, my decision is final!" He says, walking to the door as he shut the door behind him. The impact of the door crushing through my soul.

I grabbed the pillows clutching it closer to myself as I sobbed quietly.

Awakening to divorce papers by my side, I could feel the weight of my tears in the tiredness of my eyes. It was morning, and the stark reality of the situation hit me like a wave. Adrian was divorcing me for Emily, it wasn't a dream.

"Rise and Shine, Luna, it's time for your bath," Freya and Ravenna cooed, jolting me from my thoughts as I glanced in their direction.

"Luna?" The word echoed in my ears; once the divorce paper is signed, I'm losing that title.

"Adrian wants a divorce," I pointed at the paper, my face plain like it wasn't hurting.

I watched as the smile they once had on their faces disappeared; yeah right? That was the exact look that was planted on my face when he told me.

"What... Why?" Freya stuttered as they sat on the bed, relaxing my head on her shoulder.

"He wants Emily, he's done with me..." The tears I've been battling with finally slipped down my cheeks.

My head was pounding heavily as I walked to the kitchen; I needed to get a cup of coffee to at least relieve me.

Tying my robe firmly, with my hands on my head as I yawned, the sudden noise I heard made me stilled as I opened my drowsy eyes. My eyes popped widely, my throat suddenly went parched as I stared at the figure that was present in the kitchen.

"Is that a way of saying hi to a long-time friend," there she stood, the devil herself, her hands folded across her chest as she glared at me with those eyes, those eyes that had always regarded me as a loser.

I felt my jaw clenched, my fist curled into a ball, it had been years, but the urge to punch my hands across her face every time we meet hadn't stopped.

"What are you doing here..." I grunted.

"What do you think? Making breakfast for my fiancé, the one you stole from me," she smirked, her eyes ogling me.

"You have no right to be here, Emily! Now, leave before...." I was still talking when she cut me off.

"Before what?" Walking close to me, she stared into my face.

"You didn't think I'll come back to take what's mine. I gave you my words years ago. That it wasn't over. You thought I was joking?"

My blood was boiling hot, and I felt like slapping her. "Adrian won't leave me for you!" I defended; yes, he wouldn't when he gets to know that I'm with his child.

"Let's see, Violet. You're still the dumb, naive girl I knew. You think he loves you? He doesn't scream your name when he's sliding into you, does he? That's because he only thinks of me... And where do you think he usually goes once every month? Business trip?"

I gasped as she mentioned Business trip, of course, Adrian had always told me he was going on a business trip, and I'd arrange his bags and kiss him goodbye. My eyes popped widely at the realization.

"You're such a dummy. He'll fill me with his cum and would reluctantly leave to go back to his misery," I was his misery? Yes, he didn't love me, but I was hoping he would someday.

"You're just a pawn, Violet. The pack is his now, and he is crowned the Alpha already. So, we don't need you anymore," I watched as she gave that devilish triumphant laugh.

I saw red, one minute I was fighting the urge not to cry, the next, my hands flew, delivering a thunderous slap on her face.

She gasped, and wanted to retaliate, I waited so as to jump on her. But then it never came, looking up, I felt that presence.

"I've been looking around for you," that baritone voice that had always sent cold shivers running down my spine spoke.

"Oh, I was having a chit chat with Violet, you know it's been four years," she smiled, wrapping her hands around Adrian's neck.

My pulse quickened, hoping he was going to remove her hands from his neck, but instead, he pulled her closely and gave her a peck on the forehead. This wasn't real, was it?

My fist curled into a ball, my jaw gritting, I felt like destroying something. It was their plan all along, for Adrian to get married to me, claim the pack and divorce me?

"I'll sign the damn papers and leave," I muttered, touching my tummy. "Your father is an asshole," I whispered as I walked away from the kitchen back to my room to gather my things.
