LAVINIA'S POV

My eyes widened in shock.

Did the prince just say what I think he said? If that's true then does that mean I can ask for my freedom if I manage to solve his riddle?

This seems too good to be true. From my encounter with Vampires, I highly doubt they're capable of keeping their word. It doesn't mean I shouldn't try. I'll just have to try and hope for the best.

I try to reason out the answer to his riddle when the first man speaks up.

"What makes you say that?" Prince Kian questioned, his eyes glued to his glass as he moved it slowly, the liquid inside following the movement of the glass.

"Well, because the end of the riddle says that the guardian who is blocking your way is none other than you. You've been fighting the guardian all along to get through without realizing that any harm you do, you do to yourself because you're the guardian of your own heart.

I feel like the portal you're trying to get through is your heart. So the answer has to
