Chapter 7

The morning after that, I didn’t see Thomas. I ignored the heart-shrinking moment that I felt and diverted my attention from getting better.

In the afternoon, I get up on my bed to have my lunch in the dinner hall. I saw Caleb talking to Cina. As I walked past them, he stared at me while Cina was still talking in front of him.

I sat on the chair and one of the maids accompany me to have my lunch. I was eating when he grabbed the chair beside me and sat next to it. I didn’t look at him, not until he put a picture of Zen together with her mother.

I looked around, shocked, because why are we talking about this openly?

Someone could possibly see the picture! This is supposed to be a secret between us.

Gosh, this man has no fear…

He leaned in and whispered, “Now you can stop worrying about your friend.”

I felt relieved after he said that. Looking back at the picture, I saw Zen in her mother’s arms. It sent me waves of voltage running through my veins.

I smiled at Caleb.
