Chapter 4

"I understand. Don't worry about me, Mom."

As the CEO of a multinational corporation, Susanne was always busy with work. She had to take her private jet to seal an oil deal worth tens of billions of dollars that very day. After nagging her son a bit more, she left Garuda Estate followed by her retinue of subordinates.

Later that night, Elio slept on the bed for the first time in the three years since he got married. The luxurious bed was worth tens of thousands, but he simply could not fall asleep. All this time, Evelyn has been the one sleeping on the bed. He slept on the floor until he got used to that kind of life. Now, he could not get used to the sudden change.

You heard that right. Even though they were married, Elio did not even have the right to sleep in the same bed with his wife, let alone do what married couples were supposed to do. He had never even touched Evelyn before. What a tragic excuse of a married life that was!

After a night of tossing and turning, Elio simply could not sleep without seeing that familiar, beautiful face. A single night felt like years to him. The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, Elio stood at the window staring blankly in the direction of Cloudsea. In the end, he could not take it anymore and took the helicopter back.

To avoid attracting attention, Elio instructed the helicopter to land in the suburbs, where a Range Rover was waiting for him. It picked him up and took him back to his in-laws' house.

There was no one at home. Elio then remembered that today was Evelyn's cousin Sienna's wedding. His in-laws had all gone to the wedding. He hurried to Oceansky Hotel on his electric scooter.

Sienna was marrying the son of the Sampson family, one of the wealthy families in the city. The Joneses took this wedding very seriously. After all, the Sampsons were above them in wealth and status. That was why the patriarch of the family, Old Master Harrison Jones, personally attended the wedding ceremony. None of the family members were allowed to be absent.

As the third son of the family, Howard had already taken his seat with his wife and children.

Evelyn's exquisite face was flawless as ever. Her eyes were bright like sparkling water, and her skin was so fair that it glowed. Her curvaceous body was wrapped in a long dress, attracting the attention of many men nearby.

When Elio appeared in a hurry, dressed in extremely cheap clothes, Lana scowled. She really wanted to scream and ask why Elio had come back. However, she could not air her family's dirty laundry in public, especially since there were too many people at the wedding. She had to hold back for the time being.

Even so, she could not help but berate Elio, "What took you so long? We've been here for hours! And look at what you're wearing. You stick out like a sore thumb. Urgh, what did we do to be cursed with a son-in-law like you?"

Elio was embarrassed. How could his mother-in-law humiliate him in public. like that? However, for Evelyn's sake, he had to endure it all. Then again, he was used to his mother-in-law scolding him now. He smiled and said, "Sorry, there was a traffic jam."

His words made his sister-in-law, Sheila, laugh. She curled her lips mockingly and said, "You came here on an electric scooter! And you blame the traffic? How amusing. Those who don't know might think that you were driving a Mercedes-Benz or BMW."

Sheila was twenty years old, young and beautiful. She was studying art at Cloudsea University.

His brother-in-law, Dylan, was a high school student with a face full of acne. He was tall and strong, and he had no respect for his older brother-in-law at all. He mocked, "If this sorry layabout could afford a BMW, I'd be driving a Rolls-Royce."

The entire family looked down on Elio. In comparison, his father-in-law, Howard, was not as rude. He only shook his head in disappointment and said nothing.

"It's all your grandmother's fault. I don't know what she was thinking, but she insisted that Evelyn marry this loser. Argh, I get mad just thinking about it!" Lana said, still seething.

Evelyn's beautiful face was tense as if covered in a layer of frost. Her company had encountered some trouble lately, and now she had to watch her cousin marry into a rich family. The wedding was attended by all her friends and family, and their grandfather had even come to congratulate the newlyweds personally. In comparison, Evelyn had married a worthless piece of trash. The thought left her even more frustrated.

She huffed, "All of you, just stop talking already. Well, what are you waiting for? Sit down."

Everyone had long since heard of Elio, the Joneses' useless son-in-law. Now that they had finally seen him with their own eyes, they watched his actions with interest, discussing among themselves.

"That's the useless son-in-law, Elio Rinz. All his in-laws look down on him, yet he won't say a word! Ha, what a coward!"

"Look at him, taking his mother-in-law's shelling without making a sound. And he calls himself a man?"

There was even a man in a suit who clicked his tongue. "Tsk-tsk-tsk... What a waste of Evelyn's beauty. She's utterly wasted on him!"

"I guess you could call them the Beauty and the Yeast!"
