Chapter 4

I wanted to laugh at Marco's reaction, if only Lorenzo wasn't scaring him away. Lazily looking at my ‘boyfriend’, I finally said, “That's enough, Lorenzo. We don't have an affair”

A loud gasp from Marco was heard that brought my attention back to him, “W-what? A-a-affair?!” he screamed in horror.

I gave Lorenzo a pointed look as I mentally sent him a message like ‘see?’. Then, I gave the little boy an assuring smile as I gently tapped his cheek. Poor him for experiencing this. Lorenzo must know his limits for meddling with my life. I'm not poking my nose about his affairs, so, he better keep himself away from men i'm interacting with.

“If you won't stop looking at him, you better leave, Lorenzo. I don't like you scaring my visitor,” I stated while my eyes fixed on Marco.

Marco scowled at me. Probably confused how I just had treated Lorenzo Gomez. Well, I don't blame him. Everyone seemed to have this thought that I am just a ‘yes woman’. Or maybe, I thought, I'm the sweet and caring girlfriend who treats him like a king and all.

Well, I am not like that. If all of them were afraid to mess up with the great Lorenzo Gomez. I am different from them. I'm not scared of him, nor afraid to call him out when I don't like what he is doing. I won't tolerate him especially when he's getting overboard.

Silence ensued, until Lorenzo decided to break it with a loud sigh. Then, I felt him scooted closer to me. And the next thing I know, his arm encircling around my waist and his face buried on the crook of my neck.

“How many times I have to tell you, I'm not leaving, huh?” he whispered.

I didn't respond.

I don't have any idea what he was thinking and why he'd choose to stay. He has the itch to scratch and this place has no women who's willing to do that for him. Heck, I don't even have a single clue why we're still together, when for a very long time, we both knew our relationship was going nowhere.

My eyes remained on Marco, who was watching Lorenzo with an unreadable expression.

I don't need to be an expert at reading people to know what was running in his mind. I've seen that look from other men, and to every guy Lorenzo had encountered before. And I didn't like it that all of them said something about jealousy.

I mentally scoffed.

Lorenzo Gomez being jealous was just ridiculously impossible.

This guy behind me was territorial, yes. But he'd never get jealous over someone or anything for the matter. He's just too full of himself to know that there was no reason to feel that way. Or if he ever got a tinge of what they say jealousy, that was only his bruised ego. Because Lorenzo has an ego as big as the size of the world.

As I expected, Marco made a lame excuse to quickly leave. I let him be, for I could feel his awkwardness when Lorenzo decided to plant kisses on my neck. I would call him later and apologize for ‘my boyfriend's’ behavior because I actually don't have any idea what he was thinking and why he was doing it.

Shaking my head, I yanked his arms from my waist and stood up, “Aren't you getting overboard?” I asked sternly.

I didn't get an answer, as expected. Sighing, I settled myself on the single chair Marco had vacated and rested there.

The room became quiet again, and I couldn't ask for more. The temperature in the room was cold, but nevertheless just enough for me to relax my body. However, the door slammed open all of a sudden, creating a loud bang and making me jolted a bit.

“Marco!”

“What the fuck, Carolyn?!” Lorenzo hissed.

My brows furrowed at Carolyn who was panting as she looked around the huge room, ignoring his brother, “Where is Marco? I heard he went here,” she said, eyes directed on me.

“He already left,” I curtly replied.

“Where's your manners Carolyn? You can just come here banging the door and looking for that kid!” Lorenzo reprimanded, “Uncle is here resting!” he growled.

I kept mum and decided to just watch them. This scene always entertains me, because obviously, I wouldn't get to see this everyday.

The corner of my lips lifted.

One and only thing I like about Carolyn, she didn't back down nor get frightened of the almighty Lorenzo, even if he spits fire on her. Just like me, she didn't care about getting into his nerves at all.

She slumped on the single chair across mine and sighed, completely ignoring her brother, “I guess I have to accept that this is not my lucky day,” she lamented. Then, her catty eyes shifted back on me, “Why did he leave anyway? I thought he's going to stay with you until tomorrow?”

“The usual,” I started with a shrug.

Her gaze shifted instantly to Lorenzo after hearing that. “Why are you jealous of Marco? You know he's mine and Brianna won't steal what's mine,” she frowned.

I tilted my head to Carolyn, “Jealous?” I raised my eyebrows, “Lorenzo is jealous?” I queried, just to make sure I've heard her right.

Carolyn rolled her eyes, “Duh! You've been together like forever, but you're still acting dumb like you don't know him at all. Everyone knows he's a very jealous and possessive boyfriend. But what I don't understand is why the hell he's jealous of Marco! My Marco! for freak's sake! Not all men wanted you, especially those who are scaredy cat like him that won't dare cross against him!'' She pointed her index finger at her brother.

“Carolyn,” Lorenzo called sternly.

I had to look at him to see his reaction. But the only thing I got was his serious blank face and nothing at all. I couldn't read him and it kind of frustrates me that I couldn't get an answer from him.

“What? I'm just stating a fact,” Carolyn said defensively when her brother gave her a pointed look. “I don't care about the two of you. But now that you are involving my future husband, I have to knock some sense of our Brianna here”

She stared at me, like intently that gave me a feeling she's not yet done with her litany. Pursing my lips, I've waited for it. I met her fierce gaze and just by the look of it, I knew whatever comes from her mouth will be nothing good.

“Leave, Carolyn,” Lorenzo's cold voice broke our staring battle.

Carolyn rolled her eyes once again before smirking at me, “Think that this is your lucky day, sis,” she said and stood up, giving me a flying kiss before she sashayed her way out of the room.
