Chapter Four

Rosalyn finished signing all the documents and provided her ID and Birth certificate. She was then reintroduced to Alex and meet the maintenance supervisor, Jack. It was barely 9:00am and already gest were checking out. Lyn was surprised by how many guests stayed at this small hotel. She had previous hotel experience so she already was able to attend to the guest as they checked out. She was shocked by how may complaints guest left, ad made notes on all of them so she could address them to the manager, Jose. What she did need help with was attending to the Railroad workers e who frequently stayed at the hotel. Apparently thus hotel had a contract with South Pacific Railroad that guaranteed twenty rooms a day for the train crew that came from up North to deliver cargo at a local station nearby. And every last one of them gawk at her as she checked them in and out of their system and the hotels system.

"Wow! I'm surprised this hotel hired someone beautiful. Who are you?" Asked the railroad worker in front of her. All the railroad workers had the same look, it was a mixture of biker, meets lumberjack, meets hillbilly. And they all had beards. They also were addressed bytheir ladt names ny the hotel employees. "Good afternoon, I'm Rosalyn, but everyone calls me Lyn. I'm the new front desk supervisor here." She replied politely. " And I'm guessing you are either Crest or Carmicheal." "Yes, I'm Crest. How'd you know? Wow. So Lyn, do you have a boyfriend?" Crest asked as he leaned closer over the counter. He was shorter than the other workers, but still asked the same questions. Lyn simply did the same ad she did with the other railroad men, she raised her right hand and died him her engagement ring. She too looked at it as she did that. She remembered that she had been the one who had bought her own engagement ring. Technically, that made her engaged to herself, she smiled at the thought. "Yeah, it figures you would be taken. Wow, it's a good thing our union president Chris wasn't here." Crest stated as he signed his registration card and took his room key. As he left Carmicheal came in and repeated the same questions Crest had just got done asking. And as he left he said the same thing about this Chris.

Alex finally came back from his lunch break and clocked back in. He asked Lyn how she was holding up, "So any questions, have any concerns? How did things go while I was away?" Lyn smiled and said "Everything was fine, I think I got it down." Alwx had to admit, she was highly-qualified for this position. The one time she needed help was to be taught how to handle the South Pacific Railroad workers and deal with their system check ins and check outs. After Lyn signed out of the front desk computer, Alex signed in. It was time for Lyn's lunch break. As she grabbed her purse she turned and looked at Alex. "Actually I did have a question, who is this Chris guy? He's the union president, I guess?" Lyn asked.

"Of course they would bring up Ortiz Senior," thought Alex. "You mean Ortiz Senior? What about him?" Alex casually asked. "Some of the railroaders said something about him. It kind of made me nervous." Lyn explained as she clocked out for lunch. She came around to the front desk, looked at Alex and stated, "Is there something I should be aware of when it comes to this Ortiz Senior guy? And why is he Senior? Let me know when I get back please, " She turned and had out the hotel front doors.

Lyn got into her car and drove to a simple fast-food drive-thru and ordered a salad. She never cared for greasy food which is why she had a great figure. She also participated in pole fitness. She was great at it. But no one knew that about her, not even Bryce. She finished her salad and headed back to the hotel. She liked it, however still felt uneased about this Ortiz Senior person. As she drive into the parking lot she saw another van doing off another set of railroad workers, she became swear that they showed up in pairs after the third set. She parked her car and asked past the van heading in side when she ran into a one of the railroaders coming out. She would of feel flat in her back had the person she hit not caught her as she flew backwards. Her whole body began to tingle from this man's touch. She looked up and stared into the darkest, most intense at of brown eyes she had ever seen before and got lost in them instantly.

She stared into them for what seem forever then he lifted her back to her feet so liking into her eyes. He finally broke the silence, "Are you OK? I didn't see you a I was waking out. Did I hit you hard?" All Lyn could do was shake her head no. "Good, I'm glad. My name is Chris Ortiz." Upon hearing his name Lyn snapped back to reality and stepped out his arms. Up until then she hadn't realize he was still holding her. She cleared her throat and smoothed her blazer, "Thank you for not let me fall, that would of been embarrassing." Lyn's voice sounded awkward as she spoke. Her knees felt weak and she continued to look into his eyes. That's when he smiled at her and her heart melted. He was so handsome and good he smelt good.

"Are you a guest her on business?" He asked. "I'm no. I'm Lyn, the new front desk supervisor here, " she replied. She felt herself getting nervous and headed inside as quickly as she could, her heels clacking with each step. After she clicked back in and came to the front she looked at Alex, why had been watching the cameras from the computer screen. He turned to get and simply smiled. "That was interesting, " he said. You could hear the amusement in his voice. Lyn blushed at his comment. She didn't know what to say so she decided to go check rooms to ensure that so who needed to be checked out were gone and rooms needed to be clean were almost done. As she asked back around the counter , so liking at her printed sheet on front of her she once again ran into Ortiz Senior. Repeating the she scene that had just occurred outside not even five minutes ago.
