Chapter 40. A Box of Fried Rice

"What do you mean?" Shada turned her body around and faced Ruth fully.

"What does Max have to do with Jennifer?" Shada's dark brown eyes blinked rapidly. Curiosity suddenly got the better of her.

Ruth sighed again. Suddenly the woman lost her oxygen supply, as if she was being attacked by asthma. She then held both of Shada's shoulders firmly. "This is for your own good, Shada. But there's something inexplicable going on between the two of them. There's something you don't know."

Shada looked skeptically at Ruth's very serious face. Even now, the woman's dark eyes were red and teary.

Ruth is definitely not playing around. Shada thought.

But Shada preferred to deny it. Max was not as bad as Ruth said. She had known Max for about six years. He was faithful and never had anything to do with any woman other than her. Except Morris, of course.

Shada shook her head softly and folded her forehead. "You must be wrong, Ruth." Her gaze was incredulous.
