7: Way Back Home

"Let's go." Diane walked outside the hut but I didn't follow.

I was skeptical about moving. I can't find my diary. I don't know where it was. I am certain Sebastian won't bother taking such a thing like that but it's still important for me. I can't leave without it.

"Hey! Time is running out!" Diane shouted from outside. I closed my eyes. Sweat was all over my body, my hands were shaking. Should I just leave those memories here?

I did not respond to her and continued looking for my thing.

"What is it?" Sebastian asked. He's frowning, wondering what I need in his small hut.

"I lost my diary. I can't find it." I told him.

"Forget it. You need to leave now." I was stunned when I heard what he said. That's the only thing I have, that's why I can't bear to lose that too. I looked at him and shook my head, then continued searching. The coat and the box containing the food that seemed to have been wiped are still here, but the diary is gone. I sat on the floor and sighed, it seemed that I was running out of hope. "I will give it back once I find it here."

I looked up when I heard what he said, having a small hope I stood up from the floor. Maybe it's better for him to search because he knows every corner of this place better than me. I nodded my head. I also wiped the clothes I was wearing that were soiled from the non-stop search. I looked at the door when I heard footsteps, I was sure it was Diane who had been waiting for a while.

I shifted my gaze to Sebastian who was just watching my every move. I intently looked at him, begging. "Promise me you won't open it." I only wanted one person to read the content inside that diary. But this time, I just had to bury him in oblivion. I thought it might be better if the diary was gone, but I wanted to make sure first that no one else could read it.

I just smiled and breathed a sigh of relief when he nodded. I know he won't let me down, because he won't benefit from the contents of that diary either. He will just find someone's story cringe to deal with.

"Diane is waiting for you outside. You have to leave before sunrise." I looked at him, I still haven't been able to thank him for all that he did to me.

"Thank you very much. I didn't expect your help. You don't even have to let me stay in the place you keep safe the most because we don't know each other well yet. I can just find another place to stay." I told him.

His facial expression seemed to change for a few seconds after hearing what I said. I saw a bit of surprise but it faded right away. I was just confused when he turned his back to me.

"Leave now." That was the last thing he said. Wait, did he get angry because he thought I didn't like the place where he came from? And I don't want to associate with people like him? Maybe not and I'm just thinking too much.

I prepared myself, wore the coat Rose gave me. I was wondering what happened to them, I knew Levi won't let anything bad happen to her. I trust him, he is quiet but his loyalty was always with her. I just really hope they are safe and sound, besides Rose is still Argus' sister. Samantha can't hurt her.

When I went outside, I saw Diane frowning, tired of waiting for me. She glared at me once she saw me ready. "I thought I needed to wait my whole life." She said, sarcastically. I just smiled apologetically at her.

I followed her every step. I didn't see Sebastian anymore. He knew we were leaving and did not say goodbye nor see us off. I guess I'm seeing him again soon.

I could not imagine that I would be with Diane for days of traveling until we reached their base. Perhaps, I don't want to go fast since I am still not ready to face those people inside their pack. Blood Moon pack was known as the dangerous and powerful pack alive, but they remained quiet for a long time. And no one dares to challenge them either. I can't believe I had the chance to meet Sebastian, who I think happens to be one of the heirs and now Diane who's leading me right from that place.

I heard many bad things about the Blood Moon pack but there is no concrete evidence that it's true. I am not fond of believing rumors, so I might see it for myself.

Diane was holding the basket she was carrying earlier. It contains our food for the trip.

I was just following her until she stopped. "Wait." She told me to stay where I was standing. "I can smell something in here." She continues sniffing something in the area. I frown, I can't smell anything.

"What is it?" I asked. I can only see trees here since we are still in the mountains. The fresh air and different kind of animals roaming around was all I could smell.

"It's blood." Blood? I tried my best but I really can't find what she's talking about.

"What blood?" I was curious. She was so serious, touching every branch and leaves of trees around us.

"The heck?" She mumbled.

I was about to ask again when I felt something coming to us, I could hear the wind getting fast in our direction. I maneuvered my body into the other side to avoid that thing. Diane immediately went beside me.

"Who's that?" She asked, looking around.

A tree got hit by a bloody arrow. Now I could smell the blood in the place. Diane has a high sense of smell.

"I think it's an ambush. Be ready." I told her. I already encountered rogues in different places when I was away from my former pack, and I know that this will be an ambush for us.

She nodded her head while still looking nonstop in the area. Any moment from now we can be attacked by many wolves. We need to prepare ourselves.

"How many?" She asked me. I concentrated, I still can't find the right number. I need them to move, that's when I can calculate.

I closed my eyes to feel everyone around us, those moves, jumps over the trees, and even the way they breathe. "There are 21 on the left side, 13 on the right." We changed positions. I am going to wait on the left side.

"You think you can fight?" She asked me.

I smiled even though she couldn't see it since our backs were facing each other. "I was born to fight."

After saying those words, arrows started attacking our spot again and this time, they were on fire. These people want us dead.

2 people went down the trees and attacked me. I immediately turned them down. They still lack the skills to fight and yet have the courage to do this kind of thing, they aren't sure what comes after death.

The attack continued and while I was dealing with them and the arrows that kept on targeting us, I checked Diane and her fighting skills were admirable. No wonder she's from the Blood Moon pack. No one of us changed our form yet, I can do this all day without doing so. I felt like I haven't fought for a long time. I was so fed up with the emotions I felt recently.

I saw a burning arrow coming to Diane's head and she's not aware of it since she's busy handling those other rogues so I come to her aid. I took my defenses up and shifted the air so the arrow went back to its sender. And there two of them fell from the tree. I just killed two birds in one stone.

If we're not wolves. I can tell we will be immediately killed by them. Humans can't clearly see in the dark but we can, hundreds of times better of what they can see.

Diane was shocked but I smiled at her. Her sense of smell is powerful and I admire her for that, but she still needs to improve her sense of danger. It can manipulate her when the time comes.

The fight did not last for long and we quickly ended it. Others started changing their form but it didn't scare the one in me. I was known to be the bravest wolf alive in the Silver wolf pack and I will never be ashamed of telling the next generation that I was in wars.

"These little shits really tried their best," Diane exclaimed while holding one of the heads. Blood dripped down her arms, her nose kept on moving. I think the smell of it makes her senses sensitive.

"They are rogues, they hunt to survive," I said. I am just thankful insanity isn't kicking yet to me and that I still have self control or else I will be like them. I am afraid I will lose my mind soon.

"Not all."

Diane and I both turned around once we heard someone speak.

Diane stepped backwards when she saw the person so I got confused.

It was a man. And scar was all over his face. He is not that tall but his body was built fine and strong.

"Y-you…" Diane's eyes were like a dagger, she's looking intently at this man. However, she seems nervous. I kept my mind focused on him, I won't let him do something inappropriate especially to her.

He grinned, and it was so creepy. "We met again, my little fox."

Something was wrong, who is he?
