Chapter Twenty-One
I sat across from Silas and wondered not for the first time, what I had gotten myself into. Breakfast was delicious and he was actually good company, a good conversationalist. He was also surprisingly funny in a dry sarcastic kinda way. I found myself laughing a few times throughout breakfast, smiling a lot more than I’d like to admit. He was making it hard to hate him on more than just principle. I sighed and sipped the rest of my juice before I stood up and started to clean away the garbage and put the dishes on the catering trolly. It gave me something to focus on besides Silas and his smell that was all over the cabin. “You don’t need to do that Kara, I can have someone come in and take care of it. I’d like us to sit and talk some more.” He said, taking my hand and pulling me towards him. My body went willingly, leaning against his chest while he put his

Chapter Twenty-Two
“Oh hey, Kara, or should I say Luna?” a masculine and cheery voice said from my left. I turned and saw Jax heading my way with his friend Silas, Dorin’s son. Clementine was with them as well. I smiled and gave them a soft wave as they came over with their food and sat at the table with me, Silas sitting beside me while Clementine and Jax sat across from us.“Hey, guys. Having fun?” I asked as I sipped my drink and munched on my last few donuts. Damn Magnus snagged most of them.“Yeah, man. This carnival is great and I’m greatly enjoying the food.” Silas said with a grin as he ate nachos that smelled amazing. “So where’s your mate?”“He’s back with his pack. I asked if I could have some time.” I said with a noncommittal shrug. I could

I smiled at Silas softly before looking out into the crowd, chuckling as I watched a group of kids playing and fighting each other. It turned into full-blown laughter when I watched a little girl punch a bigger boy in the nose hard enough to make him fall down. She shouted a few profanities at him before stomping off, the other kids helping the boy up before they all took off after her. A girl after my own heart. “Do you like children Kara?” Silas asked softly as he watched me watch the kids running away. I looked at him a little shocked before shrugging in response. “I don't hate them. But I never thought of having any, at least not any time soon. I want to live my life before I’m ready to settle and try for a family.” I answer honestly as I watch his reaction. He frowns, looking mildly annoyed before nodding. “

Chapter Twenty-Four
“Dang that's a lot of stuffies.” Torrance commented from the doorway as she walked in with Viola right behind her, a bag over her shoulder. I laughed and shrugged as I mentioned to them on the end of my bed. “By all means take what you like. Silas and I won them today. Mostly Silas though. He wanted to try and get me one of everything.” “Oh, that’s adorable. Ooh! There’s a cute little frog. It’s so soft too. I’m taking this little guy.” Tor cooed as she spotted the frog. I chuckled and sat up on the bed, looking at Viola who set her bag down by Tor’s bed. Well looks like it’s time for me to be a good friend and make myself scarce for the night. “I have that dinner thing tonight, for all the Alpha’s and their Luna’s. I’ll most likely stay with Silas tonight.” I said with a smile at them both, internally dreading t

Chapter Twenty-Five
Dinner tasted absolutely amazing and I found myself craving seconds, but then dessert came and as I did a little happy wiggle in my seat Silas chuckled at me, his honey-brown eyes bright with amusement. I just shrugged and dug into the delicious cheesecake, savouring the first bite with closed eyes and a content sigh. “I take it dessert is your favourite meal?” Silas asked with a chuckle as he moved some of my curls back behind my shoulder. “Yeah, I have a pretty big sweet tooth for certain things.” I admitted with a shrug. Before he could respond his eyes glazed over like he was being mind linked. After a few seconds, he sighed and shook his head as his gaze focused on me. “There’s something I have to go deal with, my father and me. Something happened back at the packs. I will fill you in on everything when I ge

Chapter Twenty-Six
By the time we walked into the cabin, I felt like I was going to hyperventilate. The walk back had been silent and even now as we got into the cabin I was grasping at any idea I could to convince him I was sleeping on the couch and nothing was going to happen. I kicked off my heels and sat on the couch, rubbing my sore toes. I pulled my hair up into a messy bun and rooted through my bag for pyjamas. I took them and went into the bathroom quickly, changing out of my dress and doing my nightly routine, switching out my nice bra for a sports bra and moving the ring as well. I didn’t want to leave it in my bag just in case. I came out and went back to the couch, stuffing my things into my bag and putting it on the floor. I went to the wardrobe that was in the living room and found extra blankets and pillows. I took them out and made a bed for me on the couch, happy that at least it was a big couch and actuall

Chapter Twenty-Seven
I groaned and pulled the blanket over my head as the ungodly loud chitter of a squirrel woke me up. I growled and tossed my blanket off, stomping across the floor to shut the patio door and silence the squirrel. I squinted into the slightly dark morning air and realized it was really really early. I huffed and went back to the couch, flopping onto it and pulling the blanket over me to try and get more sleep. Apparently, Silas had other ideas as I heard his alarm go off and he started to shuffle around the room. After a few moments, he came out in loose gym shorts and made his way to the patio door, pausing to look at me and when he saw I was awake he came towards me and sat on the coffee table so he could talk to me. “Not a morning person I take it, my mate?” he asked with a small chuckle, grinning as I just shook my head in reply. “Well I’m going for a morni

Chapter Twenty-Eight
“So everyone is in agreement then? Riverside will merge with Riverstone, myself and Kara as Alpha and Luna. Varin will be my Beta still and Alaric you will become head of my warriors, Laris will be Gama of the pack still as I don’t have one. YOu’re people don’t have to relocate or leave their jobs, but warriors would be relocated to your territory to help with the protection of the pack.” Silas said as he looked over the final agreement. Alaric and Laris nodded slowly while they listened. I had assured them both through mind link that things would be revisited and renegotiated when the time came but for now, it would be best to go through with things as Silas saw fit as long as it was fair to his other pack members. I wouldn’t want to take positions from either of them and when I took over I would need a Beta and a Gamma I could trust. I wondered how many warriors had been left alive from my original pack

Chapter Twenty-Nine
The moment I got to my room I was relieved to see Torrance wasn’t there, I closed the door behind me, went into the bathroom and turned on the shower, closing and locking the door as I pulled out my phone. I needed to call Victor and warn him about what I had learned. This was not good at all. I paced the small bathroom as the phone rang, letting out a sigh of relief as I heard him pick up. “Little wolf, what is the matter?” His voice was low and concerned but hearing him made me relieved. “Victor, I called to warn you. I just found out Silas had another alpha and his scouts track my scouts when my dad died. Silas wondered why the scouts never went back home to try and save the pack. He had another Alpha named Anders use his Beta Greg and his scouts track you. They know my scouts went to Europe but not where or to who.” I took a breath and ran a hand over my

“Little wolf, time to wake up darling. We have to get you ready for the ball.” his deep voice called me from sleep, a warm hand rubbing my back softly. I groaned and snuggled closer into the bed and tried to pull the blanket over me and whined when it was tugged away from me. “No no, time to get up. If you don’t I can’t help you get ready for the Ball.” he chuckled as he tugged the blankets down to my waist. I huffed and sat up, stretching and blinking at Magnus as he grinned at me from his spot on the bed. He reached to the bedside table and held out a glass of water to me. I took it with a smile and downed it, feeling more alert as I shuffled out of the bed and stood up, noticing that both of my bags were on the ottoman at the end of the bed. “And how are you going to help me get ready for the ball exactly?” I asked curiously just as there was a knock on th
