Prologue
While petting my beloved horse Mable's reddish brown mane softly, I think back to five years ago when I wasn't married to a man who's only passion is making vast fortunes and working every second of the day. Matter of fact, if I was completely honest, marriage wasn't my first thought. I had wanted to travel and be a world famous designer in Milan. When my dad notified me of the arranged marriage, I freaked out. Not knowing that people still did that in the U.S., my first thought was to run away. So I took the earliest plane that I could find to Europe and hid. I stayed abroad for 6 months till they eventually found me. How could I get married? I was so young and wanted to do so many things before I was chained down to one man. Getting married wasn't one of them. Feeling Mable snort, brings me back to the present and she rubs her nose on my hand to get me to pet her again. The soft fur always calms me, I have had her my whole life. She used to be my mom's before she di

Chapter 1: The long night
With my heart still pounding, I run back to the house and take refuge in my bedroom.  That man is one of the new hires, how did I not notice him earlier?  He is so tall, tanned and more handsome then Brad could ever be.  Not to mention, the muscles on him.   Laying on the bed, I remember staring into those hungry green eyes, thinking that I wouldn't mind if his eyes looked that way at my naked body and his hands caressed my skin.  There is something to say for a hard working man.  Compared to Brad's soft perfectly manicured nails and fingers, his are rough and callused. I wonder how that would feel against my soft delicate skin.  To feel the strength ooze from his finger tips as he grabs my hips and makes love to me with my back up against the wall.  I long to wrap my petite legs around his waist and feel him grow against me.  Something I have yet to ever feel. When I had the brief affair in Los Angeles, it wa

Chapter 2: The Secret Garden
Waking up early and stretching in bed, I smell ham and eggs cooking.  Marissa must have gotten here oftly early this morning to be making breakfast already.  Stepping out of bed, I feel the cold wood planks under my feet and immediately form goosebumps on my arms.  Brrr.  I rush to grab my heavy robe and put it on my shoulders.  Struggling so early in the morning, I really have a hard time finding the holes to put my arms in.  When I do succeed eventually, I step into the kitchen, saying, "Goodmorning Marissa, did you sleep well last night?"Taking a seat at the counter, I wait patiently for my food and an answer.  She turns around and smiles, "Yes, ma'am.  I did and you?"  Thinking about my answer, before saying anything, I wonder if I should tell her about my dreams.  Settling on no for now, I state, "Yes, I did too.  This all smells wonderful."  Waving my hands at the meal co

Chapter 3: Dean
The warmth of the sun beating down on my back, feels so good after a long afternoon.  Mable, snorts and turns her head to the side as I enjoy nature and watch the birds flying above our heads.  We are ready to head back to the stable, when I hear the steady trot of another horse in the distance, echoing throughout the valley.   Looking back, I see the tall gentleman from the day before and watch as he closes in on our distance.  Mable senses something and turns around just before a rattlesnake strikes her leg.  She raises up on her back legs and knocks me off.  Sitting on the ground, all I can see is Mable laying on her side groaning. Pushing up off the ground, I get to my feet and run over to her.  She has fallen on top of the rattlesnake and crushed it, but not before it struck her again.  I can see the two bites swelling up as she lays there in pain.  Not knowing what to do, I stand up and flag down the stable hand

Chapter 4: The Dream
I wake up in a cold sweat.  Peeling my bedsheets off of my naked body, I get up to grab a set of fresh ones from the hall closet.  When I touch the wood floor, I shiver from the cold and hurry to put my robe on.  After I put on my robe and slippers, I creep out into the hallway and open the linen closet.   The last thing I want to do is wake up Brad.  He might be drunk or even question why I am up, and as far as I am concerned this is not the time or place to be discussing my dreams with him.  Matter of fact, I don't ever want to talk to him again, but I don't have a choice.  Knowing that he feels that way about another woman makes my skin crawl. Looking through the fabrics, I pick the Egyptian cotton powder blue sheets and quietly sneak back to my room.  Taking off the wet ones and replacing them with the fresh sheets, I take off my robe and slippers and then climb back into bed.  I lay there for a while, thinking ab

Chapter 5: The Wake Up Call
Waking up, I realize the reason.  I hear the phone ringing on the other side of the room and slip out from under the covers to answer it.  Immediately wishing that I hadn't gone to sleep without putting on a nightgown, I shiver while grabbing the phone.   Retrieving it, I retreat to the warmth of the covers and look at who called.  Nora, a neighbor that quickly became a close friend of mine just after we moved in.  She is 30 and works for Brad's company, as a secretary.  Calling her back, I ask while yawning and stretching, "What's up, Nora?" Sounding anxious, she answers right away, "You would never believe who and what I saw last night at the office." Not wanting to really know, because I have an awful feeling that has started creeping up inside, I hesitate.  Finally saying something, I ask, "Do I want to know?" "Girl, your husband was caught eating out one of his clients last night.  Jessica, one

Chapter 6: The Flame of Desire Ignites
After reading for several hours, I decide to go for a walk.  I go through my closet and choose a comfortable pair of jeans and a nice royal blue sweater that my dad bought for me last year as a present.  Putting them on, I model in the mirror for myself and realize that something is missing.   Placing my sapphire heart earrings in, I once again model in front of the mirror.  Perfect.  Satisfied with my appearance, I shut my closet and pull on my light brown leather fashion boots that I have picked out for the day.  I always cringe a little when I start to walk in them, because they make this percussive sound on the wood floors that echoes throughout the whole house. Standing up, I walk to the door of the bedroom and open it, hesitating before shutting it behind me as I look inside for anything I forgot.  I turn the corner of the hallway and walk to the door.  Not seeing Brad, I march out the door before he decides to stop

Chapter 7: Bad News Can Always Get Worse
After lunch, Marissa takes off and I find myself completely alone.  I sit around for a while reading again, but then decide to be nosey and go through Brad's things in his bedroom.  What could possibly go wrong?  After all, he won't be home for hours if he shows up at all tonight.   Pacing back and forth, I try to figure out if I should or not and finally just march up the stairs straight into his bedroom.  Looking through his drawers, I find nothing and then turn to his desk.  Right away, I have this bad feeling when I see a drawer half way open and inside a picture is bearly visible.   Opening the drawer the rest of the way, I stand back and take in a deep breath before sighing.  Shaking my head in disbelief, I approach the drawer and pick up the photo of Brad and an unknown woman in a compromising position.  When I go to put it back, I notice a manilla envelope underneath and take it out to open it.

Chapter 8: Dean for Dinner
While cleaning up my room before dinner, I sit down and secretly wish that Dean was here and we were making love.  Looking out the window, I watch as the wind blows against the house, so I decide to go downstairs and make dinner.  On the way to the kitchen, I catch a glimpse of Dean outside the front door and walk over, trying to see what is going on. Opening the door, I notice an older man who I have never seen before, standing by Dean and it seems like they are in a confrontation.  Both of them turn to face me, before I ask, "What seems to be the problem here?" Dean speaks up first, saying matter of factly, "My parole officer doesn't believe that I am employed here and is trying to throw me back in prison.  Is there any way you can verify my employment to him for me?" Looking at the older gentleman, I ask politely, "May I know who I am talking to?" He nods and answers, "I am Mr. Conway, Dean's parole officer.  I was notified

Chapter 9: Sick of Everything
Eating breakfast the next morning, I watch Marissa clean up the pans she used to make the eggs and hashbrowns.  A pretty little thing, Marissa has expressed time and time before that she isn't.  I have to show her that it's what she makes of it one of these days.  Maybe even today.   All I have to do is take her shopping, get a couple of outfits that flatter her body type and get her hair and makeup done at the salon.  She will walk out feeling like a new woman and so much more appealing to everyone around her.  I hope it gives her the self esteem she needs. Deciding while I sit there to call and set it up for today, I eat the rest of my breakfast and let her know I am finished.  After running upstairs and bathing, I grab an outfit and set myself to work calling the necessary places.  When I am done, I pat myself on the back and wait for the right time to go downstairs and collect her.   While sitting on
