After getting in bed, I just turn on my side so Dean can snuggle up to me when we hear a knock at the door.  Grumbling, I get up and throw on my robe before answering it.  When I do open the door, Sam is staring back at me and she actually looks happy. She states, "I did it.  I told him what I needed and he agreed to it all.  Now we just have to come up with a wedding date, preferably before little one here is born." Sighing, I say, "Well, I am so happy for you but can we talk about this in the morning?  I am so tired I feel like I am going to just fall over dead." Looking upset, she answers, "Yeah, of course.  I just wanted to throw some ideas at you, but it can wait till the morning.  You two have a good night."  Watching her walk away, a tinge of regret hits me, but I am so tired I shut the door and go back to bed. The next morning, I wake up before Dean and lay there watching him sleep.  He looks so pea

"Who is Angela"  I pretend not to care and ask nonchalantly. Turning to answer me, he glances at me and then over to the corner.  Sighing, he answers quietly, "Angela was my girlfriend in high school.  We were in love secretly, until one day her dad found out and they moved out of town the next day.  See, she was African American and when her parents got wind of us being together, he couldn't take the embarassment." He closes his eyes and then continues, "The next time I heard from her, I found out that she was pregnant with my baby and that was just not something her dad would allow.  She pleaded with me to come get her, but being still in high school I had no way of coming for her.  I didn't even have a job, let alone a car.  The next time I heard from her, she wrote me that letter and told me that her dad pushed her down the stairs so she would have a miscarriage.  She said she would always love me, but knowing I didn't come

"Hey, do you think that I should try to get pregnant again right away so Brad doesn't ever know that I lost the first one?"  Sam asks softly. "Hmm.  I don't know.  Starting a marriage with a secret like that is always a bad idea.  It was bad enough that I had to marry someone I didn't even know, but if I had a secret it would make it tons worse." She hesitates and then mutters, "Oh." When she looks at me again, I can see the sadness in her eyes.  For the life of me, I don't know why I say this, but when I do I surprise myself.  "Sam, if it makes you feel better I will be in your wedding." She looks up and smiles brighter than I have seen in quite a while.  Her whole demeanor changes and she becomes the Sam I first knew.  "Do you mean a bridesmaid or something?"  She asks.  I am just about to respond, when I hear Dean say, "Fuck!" in the next room.  We look at each other and go to investigate. 

It has been five long years since I have been a single woman.  Not only am I relieved, but I am jumping for joy.  I get up and go to the kitchen for a glass of apple juice when I run into Sam sitting at the counter.  She doesn't look too happy and when I sit down next to her I find out why. Apparenty, Brad has decided to put the wedding off a bit longer.  He told her that he has to take care of some things at the company first.  Which in his messed up way means that he wants to screw a few thousand more woman at work first.  I start to feel so bad for her, but then I remember she is the one who wanted to have an open marriage.  Well, this is what she gets. So sitting there drinking tea, she unloads on me.  "I'm wondering if he even wants to get married now and I think he found out about the miscarriage, because now this." Glancing over at her, I wonder the same thing but don't say it.  Instead, I try to console her

When we pull up, I say to Sam, "What now?" I open my door and the officer walks over to me.  He asks, "Ma'am, are you Jenna Davis formerly Jenna Harrison?" Sam stares at me and I glance over at her with furrowed brow.  I reply to the officer, "Yes.  Why?" "Because, I have a message from Dean Smith.  He has been in a car accident and is in County General, but he needs you to contact his lawyer because he was drinking while intoxicated.  Once he gets done at General, they are taking him over to the jail Ms." "Oh.  I see."  I stop and swallow hard.  "When will he be able to come home?"  Sam stares at me knowingly and I can tell she feels bad about the whole thing. "Well, assuming his attorney gets the paperwork ready.  Tonight, tomorrow the latest.  They like to throw them in the drunk tank for the night, but since he is in the hospital, they won't."
