Max’s POV  Have you ever been stepped on your foot and the one who did that to you did not even bother to say that they are sorry?   Yeah, well, that is how it felt. It fucking sucks.  Some people have a freaking hard time admitting the truth and in the long run, it ruins the lives of the people that gets involved.   My mother.   Gosh, I wish I know how and when to understand her. I get it that she did all that to protect me and stuff, but she could have at least told me anything to prepare me for this. At least, I am not shocked. Here I am now, lying on my bed and trying to fit and figure out the pieces of information I just received.  My train of thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the wooden door.  “Hi.”   Alright, it’s

Meet the council
She woke up with a painful neck. She must have slept after her mother left her or she slept even if her mother was still talking to her. Whichever it was, she was just grateful that she was able to get some much needed shut eye. After class, her grandma will pick her up in school today and together, they will face the council.  That was the plan , initially. She was jittery. Why would not she? The council, from what she deduced from the conversations that her mother and grandmother were exchanging last night, was not the same as the student council that each school has. These people are ruthless and leaders of their own packs. Men with authority. And they have a hard time accepting a woman in their midst. It was a big day for her. Today is the day that she will finally meet her grandfather from her father’s precio

The council vs mom and grandma
Max’s POV  Grandma is about to open that door. When that oak door opens, there will be no going back, Max. I told myself. I can bolt here. Right now and leave . Go someplace else where I could start anew. But, will that be worth it?  My grandmother and my mother placed all their faith in me. They kept me safe.  My father made the greatest sacrifice to keep me alive, to be able to be back here and make  a difference.   Bailing out seems a good idea, but in the long run? Will it make my life a little less full of regrets and what if’s?  I take a good look of my kind grandmother’s eyes. I see love and pride there. And if she worked real hard to get the respect she was experiencing now, I do not think that a very confused and coward gran daughter had the right to take it away from her. “Suck it in.” I reminded myself.

Training buddies
Zayn’s POV  I cannot wait to tell Fred and Aron the look on Max’s face when she discovered that I am also a wolf. Her face went from blank to confused to surprised to a total bewilderment. By now, she would have put two and two together that I was making friends because I knew who she was and what she is. Surely, she does not think that I talked to her on my accord. That is ridiculous.   “You are like me?” She asked me like it was a disease that we both contracted and just found out that there was no known cure.  And, I had the best answer. “Pretty much. But mine does not look as cool as that.”  I was referring to her blue aura.   No one had that. It was told long ago, that there were a few who possessed that same blue hue. They were the first wolves to ever roam the planet. And as they intermingled, their aura got

Day 1 at the Black estate and farms
The Black estate and farms was situated at the end of the the haven forest. It is breathtaking. The mountains that cradled the entire estate was magnificent. Max was at lost for words.  The house of the Black’s was not the kind that you would expect to see in these areas. Max was hoping to see wood on wood. Instead, the entire house was modern and the sun had access to the house via its massive glass windows. Whoever the architect that her grandfather commissioned, did a pretty damn job. The estate drom the outside did not screamed money. There was no need. It announces wealth and power and class. Such a shame that her grandmother on the Black's side met a ln ugly fate.  “We are here.” Teresa announced. She was driving Max to the Black estate and by doing so, an avalanche of memories came crashing to her mind.  “You do not have to do this, that Quentin is a scheming bastard.” Betty spitt

Hesther’s POV  My brother and my so called friends call me Queen Bee for fun. Zayn calls me that becaue he thinks that I am using the family money and fame to get people do what I want them to do. Essentially, dear Zayn is correct. What he does not know was that, I was more than that.  I never hid the fact that I dislike him. I let him feel that whenever I had the chance. I hate it that he is favored than I am.  So what does little Hesther do?  Spend daddy’s wealth on shopping and worthless items. I do not need them, but I love making daddy’s wallet bleed. He does not bleed of curse. Farewell for now
“Quentin, how long before we see Max?” The coffee mug that he was holding in his hand rattled. He was shaking. Of anger. Quentin had long dreamed of having the grand child he missed seeing growing up , it was not longer than twenty minutes that she had been in his side and Betty had the audacity to ask that ridiculous question.  “What kind of question is that?” “Are we allowed to visit?” Teresa asked. “You are but only if I see it fit.” “That is insane!” Betty screamed in horror. “She is here to train. What do you think is this place? Her boarding school? She needs to focus and having you two around, hovering will not be good for her training. “Not good for her.” Teresa scoffed. “ Or not good for you?” “Marcus!”  A massive bulk of a man dressed in black suit

Battleground
Max’s POVFour knocks.“Hey, Max. Your grandfather wants me to inform you that training begins at one in the afternoon. See you down in the arena.”I did not say a word.“If I were you, wear something more appropriate for training.”That was Hesther.Obviously, grandfather had no inkling to the delay. He was very eager to begin my training. What do I expect to happen later?I lay there in the carpeted floor and stare at the ceiling. There was a huge bed that looked very comfy but I do not want to risk to be asleep and cram on preparations. Tje floor will do. I need to think of what I am doing with my life. At this very moment, at the mere thought of the word training, I wanted to run outside and leave for good. “God, what am I doing here?”Asking myself did not do anything nor did it proved useful. First, I do not know an

The mock battle
“You cannot be serious!”  Max screamed to her grandfather, for in her mind, training usually starts with basic introductions to punching. Well sort of. In school, they show the basicsml. Theoretical first and then comes the actual thing. Quentin Black did not share her idealism.  “The Rogues will not wait until you are ready to defend yourselves.’’ Quentin said. He raised up her gloved hand and gestured his man to take their positions. They surrounded the three of them.  Max looked around and panic started to engulf her. Hesther was not even bothered and Zayn was as calm as the sea. Maybe because they were trained since they were little. But her? She know nothing about violence. She was a law abiding citizen and she is a big believer of peace.Obvs, no one cared about that.  If she survives this day, she will have to scold her moth

First
Quentin Black could not believe his own eyes. Even Hesther, who, after being called out of the battleground became interested in the unexpected turn of events.  In front of all of them stood a silver wolf. It’s hair was translucent almost shining and it is very angry right now. It’s sharp fangs are all on display and its eyes are blue and it’s wolf aura was now a blazing blue. The people in the shack went still as the waters of the sea before a tsunami.   They all cannot believe what they are all seeing right now.  Twenty meters. That was distance of the wolf from where Max was standing a split second ago.   Max was gone.  “Did she just?” Hesther broke the amusement. “Yes, she sure did.”  “That is impossible. No one managed t
