Chapter 1: Cursed Twin
“Didn’t I tell you I wanted my drink with two pumps of vanilla?! This is clearly just one!” My sister, Heather, berated me after I passed her the drink. I was still gasping for air as I had just ran for half an hour when she asked me to get her a drink all the way from Coffee Bucks which was quite a long distance from our house. She didn’t even let me take a break before beginning to shout at me. “I– I could have sworn I told them two pumps, Heather. Are you sure it’s not the right drink?” I reasoned out, but I should have known that doing so was a terrible mistake on my end because the next thing I knew, she had stood up, stopped her hair and makeup artists from doing their jobs, and walked over to me. She towered over me with her four inch heels and she stared me down with her hands on her hips. “Are you telling me that I don’t know what my own fucking drink tastes like? Who the hell do you think you are?” I swallowed nervously. Goddess, I’ve awoken the kraken again. All I wa

Chapter 2: Rejected Mate
“Where the hell have you been?!” My mother shouted at me as her eyes almost popped out of her socket in rage. She was wearing a floor length and sparkly blue gown that perfectly complemented her blue eyes. My mother was gorgeous, and I guess that’s where Colt and Heather got it, just like her eyes. I still wonder why I had plain hazel eyes when my father didn’t have them either. “I’m sorry, I… I had to clean up again. Did I miss anything?” I asked as I looked down embarrassed at my outfit. Compared to her flashy and extravagant gown, since my yellow dress was completely stained and no longer salvageable, I was stuck with the best and last dress that I could find in my closet – a red gown that flowed behind me and hung off my shoulder while hugging my waist. I didn’t own any jewelry–Heather gets them all–so I opted for a necklace I made myself before, composed of a gold chain, resin, and pressed forget-me-not flowers. My mother just shook her head as if she didn’t even want to bothe

Chapter 3: Cliff Edge
I could feel my wolf howling in pain. She doesn’t exactly understand what’s happening, and frankly, neither do I.  This was our mate. The one the Moon Goddess gave us to love for the rest of our lives.  Granted, I couldn’t understand why out of everyone it was Alpha Kage Knight that had been chosen for me, but still. He’s supposed to love us too, right?  So why? Why is he rejecting us?!  “Y- you don’t mean that. I’m your mate. Don’t you feel the connection we have? Please, you have to at least want to be with me even just a little bit!” I tried to reason out

Chapter 4: New Life
I smell flowers. I smell trees. I smell… food! My eyes shot open just as my stomach grumbled angrily. My eyes blinked rapidly trying to figure out what in the world I was looking at. It was a ceiling, obviously, but instead of the ceiling in my room, this was made out of wood and vines wrap around it. I looked like I was in a cabin. How in the world did I end up in a cabin? My mind goes back to last night and everything that happened. Ballroom. Mate. Running. Cliff. CLIFF! I got up from my lying down position so fast that I felt my head throb from the sudden movement. “Ouch,” I whined as I put my hand at the top of my head as if that would do anything. Nonetheless, I couldn’t help but be even more confused when I saw myself. As soon as I looked down, I was wearing a white dress up to my knees. A dress I have no recollection of owning. “Oh, you’re awake.” I almost learned how to fly at that very second when I heard a voice from out of nowhere. I got up on the bed and

Chapter 5: Going Home
Living with Asteria has been nothing but bliss. Over the past three months, we have gotten used to a specific routine.  I usually wake up at six in the morning to go on a run. I walk as far away as I can and make sure nobody else is there before shifting and my wolf and I enjoy the open wilderness.  We usually come back a little before eight o’ clock with an animal we had caught. Asteria used to ask me how I am easily able to catch them, but she eventually stopped, and just thanked me for helping with supplies.  She said that if it wasn’t for me, she would still just be eating small fishes she sometimes finds along the shore that have been washed up there.  The two of us continue with

Chapter 6: Welcome Back
By tonight, I will be back with my Pack, back in my house, and back with the people who used to torment me everyday of my life.  Yipee. Not.  But that’s all I can think about as I go around my small cabin room and go back and forth placing clothes over my body and looking in the mirror to see if it looks good on me or not.  In conclusion, none of them did.  They were all nice clothes, yes, but not nice enough for my brother’s inauguration to become Alpha.  I slumped on my bed when it all suddenly hit me. My brother was officially going to be Alpha after years of training for it, and I was going back home.

Chapter 7: Meet Again
I didn’t expect to see Heather so soon. In my mind, I thought she would be way too busy getting all glammed up as if she was the main character of today’s event, but now here she was, right freaking behind me.  “Hey, I’m talking to you.”  Shit. I was debating whether or not to pretend I didn’t hear her and would just keep walking, but I knew that I had to face her head on. That’s what Asteria would have wanted for me.  After letting out a deep breath, slowly I turned around and there she was.  The same beautiful Alpha’s daughter I have always remembered. Her soft and long blonde hair flows effortlessly behind her and at the top of her head is the sa

Chapter 8: Cheating Mate
I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. I thought I had just imagined the sound, but then I heard continuous moans and I knew then that it was really there.  What I couldn’t process was why did the woman say Alpha? Could it really be that Alpha, and if so, then would it be my sister with him? I don’t know what’s worse – hearing my sister having sex or hearing somebody other than my sister having sex with her boyfriend.  But the peculiar thing was that it didn’t sound like her at all and I’m pretty sure she was busy getting ready. I also know her well enough to not get her hair and makeup messed up before an event. She would not agree to

Chapter 9: His Rejection
Trust is earned, respect is given, and loyalty is demonstrated. Betrayal of any of those is to lose all three. I read that quote in a book a long time ago, and though I didn’t understand it much back then, right now it was very apparent to me, like having blurry vision your entire life and suddenly you get glasses and voila, 20/20 vision. “Now I see why the Moon Goddess mated us together. I’m going to have a lot of fun marking you on every inch of your body, Hailey baby.” Kage’s words made me visibly uncomfortable and I’m sure he saw the way my face contorted into disgust, but he didn’t care. He doesn’t care about anything but getting what he wants, and right now, I was clearly very much that. I could feel his hard on pressing against my body and in most cases, girls would be drooling over that fact, but to me, I just wanted to puke. I need to get the hell out of here. “Let. Me. Fucking. Go.” I threatened him as my eyes bored into his with anger and determination. Kage was

Chapter 10: Unloving Parents
My heart shattered and broke into a million pieces. I knew she didn’t care for me much compared to Heather, but she had to at least realize she was looking at her daughter, no? “No, I’m…” I was speechless. Totally and utterly rendered mute in front of my mother who had carried me for months and now had no idea that her own daughter was right in front of her. And to think they were my family. “Sweetie, are you alright? You look a little dazed. Do you want water?” She gestured to the inside of one of the waiting rooms and had me sit down. Sweetie, she said. Even my own mother back then never called me that and she was calling a random stranger it? What the hell? My heart just kept breaking as each second passed. “Here you go. Weather’s been a little humid lately, huh? Don’t forget to keep yourself hydrated.” She passed me the cup of water and I tried my best to stop shaking so much so I wouldn’t drop it. “Hailey.” I accidentally blurted out. Her head turned to me so fast and her
