Ch. 41: Alpha's Painful Rejection
Derreck felt as if tiny shards were piercing his heart. Garrett’s words tore him more than Denice’s; sure, she was his fated mate, the one that the Moon Goddess had chosen for him, but Garrett was his best friend. He and Garrett had been best friends since they were in diapers.“Garrett, we’ve been bros since diapers, and you kept this from me?!” His voice continues to betray him, but the rage in his eyes was intense.Garrett walked a little closer and Apollo growled; he threw his hands up in surrender. “It wasn’t my truth to tell Derreck; you know that. Being an Alpha does not come easy and it is a heavy responsibility. Denice only told me her real name right before I walked in here. She had to be the one to tell you and she didn’t come to this decision lightly, as I’m sure you can imagine. I know it’ll take you some time before you can trust me again and I won’t push that, but I know you need a Beta. When you’re ready, you know how to find me.”Denice then spoke up with confidence a

Ch. 42: The Difference Time Makes
Back in Aurenda, Derreck felt empty, but he didn't know why. Their bond was severed, and he had no recollection of the conversation, but neither did Garrett. Her identity would remain a secret to him, but he did recall Denice saying to delete her number from Derreck’s phone. After a while, Derreck then realized that Garrett was in his room. He sneered and his gaze was piercing but freezing Garrett in place. “Where the fuck have you been?! Wait—wait. You’ve kept your identity from me all this time?!”Garrett ran his hand through his hair and felt the guilt spilling over inside of him. “D, you know that me telling just anyone about my identity is a risk. I’m not gonna walk all over town with ‘werewolf’ plastered on my forehead. Come on bro! You’ve kept it from me too, did you not? Had it not been for your accident, you probably wouldn’t have told me in the first place! Right or wrong, true or false? Okay then. You know I’m right bro.”Derreck sighed and looked at his best friend. “You’r

Ch. 43: Messy Business
As Dylan made his way out of the study, he ran into Brigette. “Daddy!” She said coquettishly. His eyes were filled with fury and if looks could kill, well you know the rest. “What?!” He asked in an icy tone. She was taken aback and stumbled slightly backwards. Brigette then recomposed herself before continuing. “Daddy, I heard you were going to see the CEO at Gray Enterprise. How did it go?” She batted her eyelashes and gave a coy smile. Dylan could no longer contain his anger towards her, and his body was vibrating because of it. “Brigette, I’ve had it up to here with your bullshit! Now I have to sit here and clean up YOUR mess because you can’t keep your fucking skirt on! You were supposed to marry Jason and be out of my hair! Instead, you fucked that up because you can’t stop whoring around!” Brigette’s face was now stained with tears, and she wiped them away angrily. “You didn’t seem to care at first! How dare you talk to me like that?! I’m your daughter!” Dylan let out a bi

Ch. 44: Caught Up Past
Dylan was in his study smoking a cigar and drinking whiskey. It had been 45 minutes since he told them to leave, so he got up from his desk and strolled upstairs to Brigette’s room. He peered inside and saw her crying on the floor, his anger dissipated slightly. This was someone that he raised as his own for 23 years. He knew all along that Brigette wasn’t his daughter, but he stayed with Aria despite his knowledge of her affair. Aria only stayed with Dylan because of his money and power; but now, that was slowly going away. He walked into her room and his eyes bore holes in her features. “Hurry up! You have 10 minutes to leave my place! I don’t want to see either of you ever again!” As he turned to leave, he spoke once more. “By the way, you are hereby stripped of your title and your finances! You are no longer of my concern.” Brigette just stared at his back without uttering another word. She quickly grabbed the remainder of her clothes and the tennis bracelet that he gifted her y

Dylan’s eyes couldn’t seem to focus on the male figure that was barely 2 feet in front of him. “Who are you?” He asked again. His voice was beginning to betray him. The man then kicked Dylan in both of his shins before he replied. “I told you. I’m your worst nightmare. By the time I’m done with you, you’d be lucky if you’re still breathing.” Dylan took a small step back, but the man just continued to step forward. The figure chuckled darkly. “For a man who puts his hands on women, you’re sure as hell scared of me. It’s pretty fucking sad.” Dylan gulped. This man knew of his shortcomings, but who was he? “Trying to wrack that drunken brain of yours won’t do you any good. Tell me Dylan, do you have children? Oh wait, don’t answer that, I already know. You don’t. But I’ve seen guys like you. You want a family, but have no idea how to treat them.” The man then punched Dylan in the face, breaking his nose. “Then there are men like me, who have a family, but it gets taken away by someo

Ch. 46: A Sibling's Plea
Garrett watched Alexander’s retreating figure and ran after him. “But I have more questions.” Alexander halted in his steps just outside the door. “So, you do have my super speed?” He looked thoughtful for a moment. “I see your mother hasn’t told you about your lineage.” Garrett looked at Alexander with confusion written on his face. “No, she hasn’t. I have more questions and one of those questions is who am I? What are you?” Alexander chuckled and put his hand on Garrett’s shoulder. “You’re a hybrid Garrett. Half wolf from your mom and half vampire from me. I don’t know what other traits you got from me and I won’t know for a while. I have to go and don’t worry about Dylan, he’s been taken care of, but that stays between us and you know nothing. Got it?” Garrett just nodded. He could guess exactly what Alexander meant by that. Alexander looked at Garrett before he spoke again. “Please go talk to your sister. She wouldn’t listen to me. Her number is the same; I’ll have to train you

Author's Note
Hello everyone! I just wanted to stop and say thank you to all who have read my book so far because it really does mean a lot to me. A couple of things as we move forward. 1: I just realized that after chapter 42 it jumps over to 44 and I apologize for that. I have put in the corrections, but they may not take effect. The next chapter will reflect the chapter number that it's supposed to be, so it may seem repeated, but that's the actual chapter number. 2: I'm going to back peddle a bit.. I didn't forget about you ;). You'll find out what happened with Blood Moon and how Golden Crescent sought their revenge. Denice has a lot of blood on her hands and you will find out soon enough how bad it became. 3: I hope that you all like what I have in store for the book and what you find out. There are so many twists and turns and even bigger secrets to look forward to. *Insert evil smirk* I'm still learning to find a balance between school, work and being an author. Once again, I thank

Ch. 47: The Undeniable Mate Bond
***Flashback 8 Months Prior***Denice had just finished sparring with her Gammas Riley and Gabe.“Damn, I’m gonna be sore for a week!” Gabriel grumbled.“Serves you right. You know not to let your guard down. I’ve taught you better than that, but then again, you wouldn’t be my Gamma if I didn’t test you at every turn.” Denice remarked.Riley let out a chuckle, but quickly silenced it after receiving a disapproving look from Denice. “What’s so funny? You’re no better. At least Gabe can hold his own longer than 5 minutes against me. I push you two to the fullest extent and you do the same with the rest of the warriors. You are my most trusted. I take no one else to the frontlines with me other than you two and Jake. I do what I do for a reason. If you can hold your own against me, then you can handle anything.” She replied. They both nodded. “Doesn’t mean I’ll be any less sore.” They huffed. She just laughed at them and walked to grab a drink of water.“I have some matters to tend to. W

Ch. 48: The Alpha's Inner Turmoil
After she allowed herself to find peace in Jake’s arms, she slowly pulled away.“Jake, you know why I can’t and I hate to lead you along even without the mate bond. You’re a great guy and you’ve been patient with me. I don’t deserve your kindness, even if I am Queen.” She sighed and went to walk away, but he grabbed her wrist gently.“Denice, you’re everything and more. I just hope that one day you do what makes you happy and have someone that you can call your Alpha King. You shine bright and you are a beacon for packs everywhere. Having an Alpha Queen is a bit unorthodox, but change is good. The way that you rule The Golden Crescents, there’s no doubt in my mind that you won’t rule this kingdom the same way.” He stated with conviction and admiration in his eyes.“Thank you, Jake. I have some matters to tend to, but feel free to use the space.” She stated and walked away.Denice was beginning to feel the weight of being Alpha Queen, but she had a few loose ends to tie up and that beg
