Chapter 4

Matteo De Luca's Pov

Looking at the girl on the other side of the door through the glass l had so many unanswered questions , how could they have exchanged them at birth and why couldn't me and Selena notice that the child we had wasn't ours ,l was so caught up in thinking that Selena cheated that l didn't think to notice that Alexandra wasn't anything like Selena either

I was so blind this whole time and my daughter was somewhere out there being raised by someone else and l couldn't even bear the thought of her calling someone other than me dad

I feel like l am dreaming and this isn't real because l had given up all hopes of ever being a father to a baby girl and today l finally got my wish and l just feels like a dream come true and if am really dreaming then l don't ever want to wake up

"Feels pretty unreal right, we finally have our tesoro Matteo and it's not a dream" my youngest brother Lorenzo said as he patted my shoulder

"Is it so wrong that l am literally busting with happiness while Alexandra is fighting for her life at the same time" l said looking through the glass again

"No you're only following a fathers natural instinct to put your daughter first before anyone"Lorenzo my youngest brother said

"I love her already frattelo and she hasn't even opened her eyes" l said smiling

"She will bring back your smile that you seemed to have lost along the way "Massimo said as he joined us 

"Yep we finally have a ray of sunshine after 13 years of a dark cloud" Bernado laughed as we did a group hug

I love my brothers we've had fights ,arguments and we've even shot each other but we've always come back stronger because that's what our father has always taught us 'family over everything'

"Mr De Luca l am sorry to interrupt you but l have news about Rosabella"the doctor said but l was confused because l don't know anyone called Rosabella

"Who's Rosabella " before l could ask Padre beat me to it

"Your daughter" and l just felt happy hearing her call her that

"Is she going to be okay doctor" l asked seriously

"She lost a lot of blood and she will have to go for another surgery because they seem to be some swelling in her brain and also we've contacted her legal parents ,but l noticed something while l was still with her and l think you need to know that she has a lot of bruises in her body and she is malnourished one can hardly tell she's 13"

I felt my heart drop and my legs become heavy when l heard the doctor say that 

"The bruises ,did she inflict them on her self" Natasha Lorenzo's wife asked 

"No someone definitely did that to her " the doctor confirmed and l smirked evilly because l was going to make the person who hurt my daughter pay 100x more 

"Thank you doctor "l said hoping she would catch the sign that l wanted to be with my family right now and she did

"I'll bet you that it's probably the family" Massimo said

"Then l want you to dig up everything about Rosabella and her family ,l swear frattelo if it was them then l'll make them regret ever putting their hands on her " l said using my Capo voice

"As you say boss" he smiled evilly while walking away to use his phone

"You know you can't kill them right" Oral Massimo's wife said and l knew what she meant at the end of the day they are still Alexandra's family and hurting them will be hurting her but if they are really the ones who hurt my daughter then l am going to give them a fate worse that death 

"I'll just show them the consequences of hurting the princess of the Italian Mafia Ora "

While we were still talking a clean looking middle class man and a fake extensions woman arrived talking to one of the nurses saying that they were looking for their daughter and you could see that they didn't care about the person they were asking for

"Ronan Rossi what are you doing here" my brother Lorenzo seemed to recognise the man

"Mr De Luca l a-act-actually am looking f-fo-for my daughter" he said basically shaking because he had noticed me 

"You know him "l signalled towards Lorenzo 

"He's the italian lawyer we hired from America "Bernado said

"Who is your daughter"madre asked the woman who didn't see line she wanted to be here at all

"Rosabella her name is Rosabella Rossi" the woman said

I felt my blood boil because seeing these two made me realise that my baby was never given any love by these two but the big question is were they abusing her or was someone else

They both looked at the glass and noticed Rosabella 

"Well we've seen her she looks like she'll survive so we'll be on our way"the woman said l stood there shocked by the way she spoke about my daughter

"We have t-to go o-ou-our other children need us " Ronan Rossi said as he took his wife's hand for them to leave but the doctor told them that she needed to talk to them which l guess is probably about the girls being exchanged at birth

When they left with the doctor l knew it was them that were hurting my baby but why, they were supposed to be her parents for Pete's sake

Massimo came back looking furious as ever and somehow l knew l wasn't going to like what he was going to tell me 

Apparently that good for nothing son of a bitch didn't think that education was essential to my daughter while he took two of his to best schools money can buy in California Rosabella was never given the right to learn..... He took his family to fancy restaurants and galas but Rosabella was never with them and he openly expressed to the world that he had two daughters which means despite being her father she never gave my daughter an identity

"This is all l could find out in a short time but the guys in California are working on getting a complete background check" Massimo said

Just as l was about to answer my brother Ronan and his wife were coming directly towards us and l almost snapped his head but l composed myself

"I can't believe this happened Mr De Luca but the girls will be the most affected by this" l almost thought he cared after his little speech but l knew better 

"Of course they will be but before we continue figuring out what to do and how to tell the girls l want you ,your wife and kids to get tested to see if you are possible donors to donate a kidney to Alexandra" l said leaving no room for disagreement 

"But isn't that dangerous " the wife said 

"Well it's your daughter's life that's at stake here ,l don't know about you but l would die for mine " Arabella taunted the woman and she looked embarrassed that it was pretty clear she didn't care about her kids

"My wife was just saying Mrs De Luca , she is really a good mother to our children am sure Rosabella would totally agree with me on this" Ronan looked pretty nervous after saying this probably because he was worried that Rosabella will tell the truth once she wakes up 

"She better tell us that Ronan because you know what happens if you mess with the Family especially our Princessa right" Lorenzo said fake joking while Ronan gulped and l knew l had him right where l wanted him

Time skip

Ronan and his wife who l now know as Valentine had taken the test and discovered that Ronan is a perfect match

I convinced the boys to take Selena home so that she rests after she threw a tantrum about why l let the Rossi's claim a right over Alexandra and here l thought l was doing a good job trying to save Alexandra's life

Rosabella had to undergo a surgery which just ended now and the doctor told me that they put her in a medical induced coma until she shows some improvement

Ronan had agreed to donate his kidney so he was undergoing a detailed test to make sure he was eligible to donate

I decided that l should had home and come back later because l had already spent the night and day in the hospital

When l reached home l went  bed and went to bed l had seriously had a long day being in the hospital since yesterday night and today the whole day

When l woke up itiwas still early morning and l still had to go back to the hospital because Ronan's Results would be coming in and l wanted to see how Rosabella is doing 

I did my morning routine and went straight to Selena's bedrood because it was quite clear we had 13 years worth of talking we had to do and today l deserved answers and so did l 

I knocked and Selena opened the door to our bedroom which l hadn't stepped inside of in years

"I've been expecting you" she said as she sat down on the edge of the bed

"Well here l am ,l have questions Selena l know you do to "l said as l sat on a nearby chair

"You have questions Matteo after being the one who constantly accused me of cheating on you , don't you dare play the victim here " she snapped at me 

"Don't play the victim as well Selena l never even once asked or accussa you of cheating even though l believed that you did l still kept quiet but if you knew you didn't cheat then why didn't you confront me for accusing you huh why did you let us drift away "l raised my voice on her

"I won't ever forgive you for thinking the worst about me Matteo you and l are done unless of course if you do the right thing" she said looking at me expectedly

"What right thing Selena"l said as l walked near her 

"We keep Alexa and send the other girl with the Rossi's and pretend this never happened" l took a step back when l heard her say that

To say l was shocked would be underestimation 

"You don't want our daughter" l said flabbergasted

"Alexa is our daughter Matteo have you thought about what this will do to her " Selena said as she started pacing all around the room

"You know surprisingly you knew that she was also in an accident and you haven't even asked if she's going to be okay rather you want me to pretend l never met my daughter and for what a marriage that ended 13 years ago" l said as l walked out the door but Selena held my arm before l could leave

"This will break Alexa please Matteo"she said beggingly 

"Never ask me to choose between you or our children Selena because despite what l feel for you l'll always choose them" l said taking her arms away from me

"All am asking is that you choose Alexa for once please"

"Alexandra is a De Luca no matter what Selena she won't leave unless that's what she wants" l said as l left

Knowing Alexandra she will never want to leave because he parents are obviously middle claac l just hope Rosabella is nothing like Alexandra
