Suspicious

Puzzled, Amelia reached for her face and indeed it was stained with tears. Her perfect happy face was now replaced with a groggy one. When she finally understood what was going on, a scoff escaped her lips and she turned to her grandfather. “Why else do you think I'm crying grandpa?!” she sneered and resumed eating her food.

Meanwhile her grandfather was still taken aback by her current change of mood. Hence he uttered no words but simply stared at her.

Amelia knew her grandfather was staring at her so she avoided meeting with his eyes. However she felt her heart thumping when she saw how he was looking at her. Getting fed up she dropped her spoon in a bang. She knew he needed an answer and she was determined to give him one.

“Grandpa, I was crying because you told me that you were going to take the food away if I don't slow down.” she said truculently and pushed her hair back. “Do you think it's fair? Why would you scold a grown up lady?”

Her grandfather remained silent as he simply stared at her. Slowly he reached for her forehead and placed his palm on it before he asked “Are you sick? Should I take you to the hospital?”

Amelia laughed at her grandfather's words and slapped his hands away. “Grandpa you are really funny”

The old man in front of her didn't find anything funny as she said, since he was perplexed. Her change of mood was getting him worried and thought she was sick. He knew Amelia so well and could swear on his life that she was the most composed lady he has met. Perhaps because he trained her that way.

After mulling it over for a while, her grandfather's frosty tone came out “Then why are you acting so immature right now? What kind of a grown up lady cries after being scolded?”

Amelia pursed her lips and said inwardly “A pregnant lady grandpa, I think I'm going insane right now”

“Amelia!” when Amelia didn't respond to his question, he banged on the dining and immediately she stood up in rage.

“I've lost my appetite grandpa, all thanks to you” she carried her bag and walked out of the house in a jiffy.

Amelia quickly alighted the cab and rushed into the hotel, where she does her cleaning job. On her way to the changing room, someone bumped into her but she apologized instead before running off.

Getting into the changing room and closing the door behind her, Amelia rested her back on the door and checked if she was bleeding anywhere. Though she had already decided to terminate the pregnancy, since she couldn't wait for tonight. But the thought of her losing her baby scared the shit out of her.

Letting out a sigh of relief, she closed her eyes “Thank you lord” her hands rubbed her stomach softly, before she quickly changed to her cleaning attire.

“Wow, Amelia you are glowing!” Sandra, Amelia's colleague exclaimed, as she watched Amelia wipe the windows.

As if it wasn't enough she walked over to Amelia's side and stood in front of her. Her expression right now was different from every other day's own. It felt as if her look could see through Amelia and without having a second thought about it, Amelia kindly pushed her away and continued her cleaning.

“Amelia, are you pregnant?” Sandra's question came out so fast that Amelia thought she might have heard wrong.

All of a sudden beads of sweats formed on her forehead and she nervously wiped them away. Letting out an anxious laugh, Amelia replied “What are you talking about? Why would I be pregnant?” she cleared her throat “That's absurd!”

Sandra nodded her head in affirmation and let out a chuckle before she responded in a more serious tone. “You better don't get pregnant otherwise you will get kicked out immediately. You know how things work here don't you?”

With a trembling voice, Amelia replied “Of course I do.” she then laughed and added “I am not pregnant, do I look like a pregnant woman to you?”

“That is right, you can't be pregnant.” Sandra resumed her cleaning and so did Amelia. After that silence took over till they were done with the cleaning.

Amelia gulped down a bottle of water and tossed the bottle into the bin. Her pretty face was now pale white and her lips were also turning white. It was obvious that she was tired and needed a lot of rest, since she had stressed herself so much.

Shaking her head and slapping her face to regain her composure, Amelia grabbed another bottle of water from the mini fridge and drank little from it. After that she rushed out from the hotel and headed to her second job, which was to be a chicken delivery.

Clyde woke up the next morning and quickly prepared for work. He opened his drawer as he looked for his favorite wrist watch but it was nowhere to be found.

Having a sullen look on his face, Norton realized that something must be disturbing his boss, so he walked forward and asked “Is there something wrong Sir?”

Clyde muffled over the issue for a while before he simply shook his head sideways and uttered “No, how tight is my schedule today?” he asked instead, trying to change the topic.

The fact that his favorite wrist watch has gone missing was still a mystery to him. He knew too well that the only person who had access to his house was just him and Norton.

“Perhaps my wristwatch has been stolen?”

He immediately shook his head at the nonsense thought of his. He knew Norton so well and if money was his problem he would have asked him. After all Norton has been by his side for the past five years and he wasn't just an assistant to him but also a best friend.

Brushing off the wristwatch issue, Clyde hurried up with his business and left the house exactly at 7 o'clock. He quickly entered the car and headed for the company. Inside the car, Clyde carried his tablet and scrolled through the internet but when he found nothing useful, he turned it off and rested his head against the window and closed his eyes.

Just then the car came to an abrupt stop, causing Clyde to hit his head against the window. Meanwhile a woman's scream was heard outside the car which caused Norton to go out and see for himself.
