17. Warning or threat?

I walked into Gavin's office slowly, doing the very best that I could to mask the fact that I was nervous.

As soon as I walked in, the first thing I saw was Gavin's father, Anthony Jones, standing in front of his son with a very disapproving look on his face. Mentally sighing, I closed the door behind me, and both men immediately turned to look in my direction.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the lady of the moment," Anthony said as soon as he saw me, and of course, I knew he was being sarcastic with his comment.

"Hello, Mr. Jones. It's good to see you," I said, maintaining a polite tone.

He scoffed as soon as I responded and then proceeded to roll his eyes at me. "I wish I could say the same for you, but unfortunately, I can't say it's good to see you because it's not good to see you," he hissed.
