Ted woke up the next morning with a weird feeling. He was naked and the morning breeze was cool against his skin.

He squinted against the morning light thinking he was in bed in his bedroom but when he tapped the space beside him, he realized he was lying on the couch and Cathy was nowhere next to him. He sat up quickly only to see her coming out of the kitchen with another box of pizza.

She smiled shyly and walked into the living room.

“Morning.”

He grunted a reply. His throat felt heavy. “What the hell happened to me?”

“You slept off. I’m actually surprised you slept deeply for the first time. You didn’t even move when I got up the first time.”

“What time was that?”

“2.”

Ted frowned, sitting up to wipe a hand across his face. No wonder he felt weird. He had actually slept off for the first time in a long time. How was that possible? He took in a deep breath noting how rested he felt. Then the rest of what Cathy said dawned on him.
