Cathy woke up the next day to the refreshingly delicious smell of blood. It was that mouthwatering smell that woke her up and when she opened her eyes she saw a huge cup of blood by the bedside table with a straw in it. It was warm to keep it from coagulating. But that was not all she saw. Cathy was surprised to see Ted dressing up in semi-formal wear. It was the first time she ever saw him in formal trousers and a white long-sleeved button-up shirt. He even had a pair of patent leather shoes on. He was looking into the mirror adjusting his collar. Cathy blinked, confused. She rose on her elbows to squint her eyes at him. "What are you doing?"He stopped adjusting his shirt and grinned at her, even coming over to kiss her fully on the mouth. "Hey, baby."Cathy smiled but she still couldn't help but wonder why he was getting dressed up. "What's the event?" She asked glancing out the window to see that it was dark outside. "Isn't it too early for a dinner or whatever it is you're ge
The drive Eastward was long and for Cathy, though it was a nice ride, she could feel the tension radiating from Ted. He looked over at her from time to time with those hungry green eyes but in them, she could see his concern both for her and what he would learn about the death of his bosses. Cathy laid her hand on his. "I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of whatever is happening."He smiled. He didn't want to tell her that in his world people never got to the bottom of anything without blood. Jazz was sacrificing everything by talking to him. After he left the Brotherhood and after they realized that they could not bring him back no matter how they tried, they turned against the people who supported him. People like Max and Teddy. Now Jazz. If the Brotherhood knew that she was helping him even though they were both technically no longer members, her business would suffer for it. So he owed her a lot for her help. In a few minutes, they pulled up in front of a buzzing club not much
It was several hours in the morning before sanity returned. The once-crowded environs of JAZZ' was no longer crowded. No more music, no more drunken partygoers staggering out of the club. No bouncers lining the sides of the small club. The busy parking lot was now empty, free of people. But there was blood. Blood splatters on the road, cars, and the outside walls. Blood on the steps leading up to the club. A long thin river of blood streamed from the inside of the club to the outside and all over the ground were the body parts of both humans and supernaturals. Nothing moved, no one breathed. But among the pile of blood and flesh was Ted. He opened his eyes and crawled into a seated position groaning. His face, hands, legs - every part of his naked body was covered in blood. Even his hair was matted to his head with blood. The red lights in the club had been replaced with bright fluorescent lights which caused him to squint his eyes. "Ugh, what the hell...?" He crooked. But there
Cathy woke up with a start. She was on the floor with mushy forest grass beneath her. She sat up in a flash. How had she gotten here?! She looked around her and frowned, confused. It was a strange place. She looked down at herself, heart racing as she realized that she was completely naked, not even a string covered her naked body. Cathy gasped and jumped to her feet. And then with a pulsing beat, she heard it. The monster. She knew what this monster was. She had encountered it before when it chased her through the forest. Was it here now? Was that why she was here? Had the monster caught her again? She felt it move. It moved and blended with the forest. It moved slowly, with lethal grace and precision. The green-eyed monster was close by, she could feel it. She could hear and smell its breath, putrid and heavy behind her."Well?" She looked around in fear for the owner of the voice. Suddenly a strong whining sound filled the air and a radio cackled. Just as suddenly a slow eeri
The next time Cathy woke up she had to squeeze her eyes shut as soon as she opened them. She was in a very white room. The walls were white, the lights burned a bright white fluorescent and the bare ground was just as white. After being drugged to sleep for so long she couldn't bear to open her eyes to the brightness. Worst of all her hands were tied above her head and because the room was so bright she couldn't even raise her face to see what she was tied to. Her arms hurt even worse than when the brotherhood abducted her and tied her up like a pig in a meat shop. When she tried to move out of her tight position so that she could find some relief for her arms, Cathy realized that her naked body moved in such a slow motion that it seemed like she was moving in her imagination and wasn't really moving in real-time at all. The drugs from the arrows were still in her system. Cathy forced herself to take a deep breath and as she did fragments of her memories returned to her. She a
Time was nothing to Cathy when he returned several hours later. After several loads of electric currents passed through her she was too weak to even look up when the door opened. She heard his footsteps as he approached and when she opened her mouth to groan blood mixed with saliva streamed out. "Aww, look at you," He mocked her. "Not so strong now." He walked closer until he was in front of her. "Now, do you have anything to say to me?"Cathy was finally able to bring her head up. She looked into his evil dark eyes and for a long time said nothing. Then she spat her blood and saliva on his face. "Go to hell!" She managed to grunt. He barely blinked. Her outburst seemed to excite him some more. "Wow you are incredible," He laughed. He reached for her hand that was hung above her head, the one with the mating emblem. "Did I expect less from my brother's mate?" He laughed again. Cathy snatched her hand from his grip as much as she could. The chains around her wrists hurt her but sh
Teddy was a very small man. He was the smallest man who ever became a Hunter and a Brother. Because of his small height, he had not been fully made an assassin, instead, he was a helper and helpers went on missions with Brothers. He may not be as athletic as Theodore or as burly as Max but he was faster on his feet than anyone else which was why he was able to quickly block the door when the remaining two Dark Storm triplets came rushing into Ted's apartment threatening to raise hell. Chase who was in front raised a hand as if to hit Teddy but he controlled himself. Teddy wasn't the man he wanted to beat to a pulp so he forced deep breaths in through his nostrils into his lungs. "My sister is missing...""How do you know that?" Teddy asked. He was scared of Chase and Carl. They both were twice his size and in a battle of fists he knew he was no match for them but he had a duty to perform - protect Theodore. Well, protect Theodore and keep the monster away. From behind Chase Carl g
Chase was the first to react. If he hadn't dropped the flashlight and raised his hands to shield his face Ted would have shredded his flesh when he leapt off the bed to attack him. The deepest, animal growls came from his throat as he attacked Chase. As a man, Ted was stronger than most but as a - whatever he currently was, he was even stronger than a strong wolf like Chase. So the other man was unable to defend himself as Ted's clawed fingers dug into the flesh of his arms to pry them loose from his face. Teddy, small as he was but still very much stronger and faster than the average omega wolf tried to pull Ted free away from Chase. Carl who had quickly darted aside when Ted leapt from the bed immediately transformed into his wolf, shredding his clothes without a care in the world as hot air accompanied his transformation. But the weight and size of his wolf was more than the attic could handle and so a few seconds later the floor bucked under them and broke, sending all three men
