33~ Setting things right

I stood in front of Shawn's door as I contemplated whether to knock or not. I realized life was short and hiding in my comfort zone would only make me look much less like a person. I needed to set things right with both people I once called my friends.

It was already the day Levi and I would be making our trip and I wanted to set things straight. I could die from depression and bankruptcy and I would love to die with a clear conscience.

"You know, you could have just knocked." Lyla's voice pricked my thoughts and I jerked at her presence. How long had I been absent-minded?

"Sorry, I didn't know if it was the right thing to do," I replied honestly with my gaze on the floor.

"So, what are you here for?" She leaned on the door, waiting for me to answer. She was no longer the jovial Lyla I used to know. Rather, she seemed cold and distant.

"Actually, I came to tell you something." My hands were shaking as I spoke. I felt uncomfortable and I felt the urge to just run away.
