Chapter Eighty Three

"We recently went to the Maldives. It's a beautiful place," Arthur said as he dipped some of his naan bread into the curry which was garnished with coriander leaves.

I smiled at him and I noticed that Martha was being really quiet, so I decided to strike up a conversation with her. She was actually quite interesting when she wasn't being rude. It was not that she meant to be rude, so I let the last incident slide.

We talked about many things such as her interest in reading and how I enjoyed art. And then she started to talk about how she learned to cook at a very young age and I politely informed her that I didn't have the luxury to learn like she did. I had to learn to fight and kill.

Besides, if my father ever came home to see me cooking, he would have beaten me because it reminded him of my mother. I reminded him of my mother too much.

I cleared my throat and turned to face Eric who was beside me. "Would you like to tell them?" I asked him as I looked into his dark eyes.
