Chapter Ninety Six

I comforted Sienna and climbed onto the bed beside her. "The baby is okay. Everything is fine. Now, calm down," I whispered soothingly into her ear as I pulled her down and into me. I heard her sniffle as she relaxed into me, laying her hand across my chest.

"I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't okay, Eric. I really don't know. Because of all the things he did to me, I was hoping that our baby would be okay. I was so scared. I was scared that I was going to lose you and the baby," she said softly.

I stroked her head gently as we lay there in silence. I wouldn't have known what I would have done either. She and the baby meant everything to me. They were my family.

"You are never going to lose me. And our baby too. He or she is strong just like you," I reassured, yawning as I closed my eyes.

She hummed and rubbed my chest slowly. "Sleep, Eric. I am right here," she whispered.

I felt my eyes drooping and I let them. She was awake and was perfectly safe.
