Forty One

I soften my gaze on Evans noticing he has also noticed how irritated I sounded calling his name.

Literally the entire hallway is empty, and there's another hallway that leads to the hall. How come he's going through the hallway that leads to the women's bathroom?

"Sorry," I say, shaking my head. "I didn't see you there."

"It's okay?" He shrugs.

I nod, ready to walk away.

"Are you okay?" He asks, he decides to keep quiet during the entire meal, and now he's talking.

"What? Why do you ask?" I gawk at him. "Do I not look okay?" My voice comes out soft.

He shrugs. "Just asking"

Of course he's not just asking. He would have noticed Liam's and I stupid action at the table.

"I am okay." I force a smile, "Thanks for asking."

I take my leave and in no time I am seated on the table again, surrounded by people who never stop talking.

Evans arrives at the table minutes later, and as usual, doesn't join the conversation and just focuses on his food like me.
