TWENTY-EIGHT | A Time To Think

I sighed. Arden seems to be making sense. If I can't show my mate to my mother, I can as well please her by pretending to accept the wedding proposal with Kate.

But how can I pretend and for how long? I wondered.

"Do you have any suggestions?" I asked Arden who seemed focused on a magazine on the table. I waited for his reply which never came. After a few seconds, I tap him slightly.

"What?" he muttered.

"I can't believe you haven't been listening to me"

"I was listening"

"But you were staring at that magazine while I was talking to you?"

"I wasn't staring at the magazine. I was just quiet because you weren't saying anything"

"But I have been talking to you for a while now. Was I still not saying anything?"

"Fine. I was distracted a bit. I am sorry"

I sighed. "Do you have an idea on how to pretend to accept the wedding proposal, because I do not know how"

He shrugged. "I do not have any idea," he said and I blinked.

He doesn't know how and he suggested that I pretend.
