Tears were burning my eyes as I looked up at Elijah. His gaze should have scared me, but the shock in my body wouldn't let me.

I pressed my lips in to a tight line to stop myself from crying.

I couldn't care less for the threat Elijah made. He could lock me up in a room for all I cared.

The small conversation I had with Elizabeth was constantly echoing in my head. It wasn't even a proper conversation. My sister didn't even let me get a word in as she pressed me to tell her what Elijah was doing to me.

At first, I didn't want to tell her anything about the life I was leading with Elijah because I didn't want her to worry. But the more she asked me, the more I didn't want to tell her anything.

Her anger towards me was so unfounded that I couldn't understand it.

What had happened to her?

I didn't know what the other wives were telling her, but Elizabeth looked like she was close to losing her mind.
